Just how long did it take you to obtain everyone’s opinion to come to that conclusion?

I thought all touchdowns produced the same thing – 6 points, thus making the same difference in the game – increasing a lead by 6 or decreasing a deficit by 6. This isn’t fantasy football where longer scores garner more points.

Doesn’t mean squat?? It doesn’t make sense! Quite frankly this statement is idiotic beyond belief! Since you obviously gathered everyone’s opinion on AD’s All Pro worthiness, you should also take a poll of all the RB’s in NFL history who failed to score from the one and in, and thus their team’s failure to score a TD, and ask them if those 1 yrd plunges count or if they make a difference.
Bottom line – Peterson’s ypc is right there with the other backs worthy of consideration. He has more TDs than anyone and more recieving yards than the other backs mentioned except Rice, who has less than half the TDs. It isn’t that outrageous he was chosen.
Agree on the two RBs being picked though – weird!

I conveniently left it out because it didn’t enter into what I was disputing. If Peterson ran the ball more than all but 3 NFL RBs could you possibly make the assertion that they’re a pass happy team? No.
Also, you don’t find it just a little bit misleading to say, “only one of those men (Chris Johnson) had a better ypc than AP”? You could also say that only one of the 3 men with more carries had a LOWER ypc than Peterson.
Or I could say that only 4 of the top 10 RBs by carries had FEWER ypc than Peterson.
But none of that enters into the discussion of whether or not the Vikings offense is “pass happy”.

to clarify, the record is 143 by Marvin Harrison. Welker was not going to break that record and catch 20 passes in the last game.
If he hadnt sat out the first two games he may have done it.
And while we’re speculating, if he had caught his 9 passes in the first two games, perhaps his knee would have buckled in week 15. All we know is that Welker tied Herman Moore in 14 games (122 in 13, 1 in the game he was injured)
On other selections…
Asante is a playmaker but idk if his game is complete enough to warrant an all-pro selection.
Peterson had an elite year. Not as memorable as previous years, but still among the best of the best. Having said that…AD fumbled a game away. With ball security issues like that, he the tiebreaker in my book.

Get off Welkers ass. He had tied for the second most catches all time( 123 )and only played 13 games! hE WOULD HAVE EASILY SET A NEW nfl RECORD HAD HE NOT GOT HURT ON THE FIRST DRIVE OF THE hOUSTON GAME.He had a hell of a year and got the crap knocked out of him all season long.

Nnamdi Assomoghua is over rated and so is Assante Samuel.
Revis is the main shut down corner in the NFL right now.

Polite getting snubbed again here just goes to to show that the people who vote for this honor aren’t as credible as they’re made out to be. In 2009 he was by far the best FB in the game. but I guess since he spent most of his time blocking, these so called “experts” wouldn’t consider him as good as McClain. Yea, ok.
Also, Peterson is a bit overrated in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong I think he’s great, but he is more of a highlight reel runner than anything else. Steven Jackson is a superior running back. He’s been more consistant all year and he plays behind a terrible O-Line, and for a team that gameplan all week to stop him and no one else.

Wes Welker is an all-pro. He caught 122 passes in the 13 games he played (thats excluding WK17). Thats almost 10 a game.
I’m a Jets fan but you’ve gotta give the kid his due.

have to agree with you, the only thing worse than the 1 yd td vulture, is the 1yd td dance and posture. tomlinson is the best at them, he runs 4 times on a drive for 7 yards, rivers throws for 72 yards to get to the 1 and LT plunges in and celebrates like he was the difference maker.

Hutchinson for the Vikes got in on past reputation — his shoulder injury has made him less than All-Pro caliber this year.
And what’s with the whining about Mathews? The guy didn’t start till the season was 1/4 over, and he takes himself out of as many plays as he makes, when he’s not getting hammered by an O -lineman on running plays of course. He’s good, but not All-Pro yet.

If it was 1 RB per All pro team, then obviously CJ would get the nod, but with 2 I think CJ and AP are 1 and 2. And you do make a good point regarding his 1 yd garbage TDs but still, 6 points is 6 points man…

Too Bad Ray Rice had like 300 more receiving yards and rushed for only 60 less yards than MJD but on 60 less attempts. MJD is good but RR is definitely deserving.

Notice i didn’t mention anything about the other viking selections. A true hater would have. you have to look at differance making TD’s vs. 1 yard plunges. bubba Franks made a living catching the 1 yard 1st and goal TD pass from favre. If Peterson is 2nd in yards in teh NFC alone and we knwo what johnson did in tennessee how can you make a reasonable argument for Peterson being all-pro? Though he showed measurable improvement in pass blocking he is still a liability in that department and he has ball security issues. i just disagree with the selection. by like us all i am a nobody and my opinion doesnt mean squat.

The list is a good one with a few notable exceptions.
1. Wes Welker does not belong. Welker is a role Wr. and only runs 2 routes on the NFL passing tree (the pivot and option routes.)
2. Larry Fitzgerald was not the fourth best Wr in the league in 2009. He’s not a stretch the field guy and benefits greatly from Anquan Boldin opposite him and his coach calling almost all the redzone targets for him. The NFL PR machine in full effect with Fitzgerald and Welker selections.The power forward Wr Vincent Jackson had a much better season the both Welker and Fitzgerald. Jackson was on a team that won 11 straight games and did not have an exploisive run game. Jackson is one of the great NFL Wr’s that get too little attention and acclaim.
3. Hutchinson is a declining player and part of the reason for the declining statistics of Adrian Peterson as the season went on. Hutch does not belong. A reputation choice only.
4. Adrian Wilson is out of place too. He had at least 5 poor games this season (watch the Bears tape.) Not sure what the All-Pro voters saw but it was obviously different from what I saw.

Really? No Vernon Davis, the dude was a beast this year. Oh ya, that’s right. All ProBowl and All Pro teams are a joke.
Now, normally kickers don’t matter for anything but really, David Akers? It should be Sebastian Janikowski as the 1st team kicker. The guy kicked a 61 yarder and missed less kicks. Oakland has him try and kick large amounts of kicks that shouldnt be attempted and he comes close or makes them. Oh and Ryan Longwell should get the 2nd team spot. He is automatic.

Why is everyone in love with Steve Hutchinson this season? Last time I checked he was nowhere near as good as he has been in previous seasons. The running game has stalled for the Vikings this season and they have been getting torched within the last few games of the regular season.

how can you replace cole for mathis? mathis has freeney rushing from the other end spot. cole has no one else and has to face double and triple teams all the time, yet still ended up with 12 sacks. do you even watch the games before passing judgment?

Kaeding made 6 more FGs than Janikowski … 16 of which came in extra-point territory (inside 30 yards). Seabass made more from 40+, 50+, 60+ and was better on kickoffs. Ridonkulous. I know Peter King voted for Seabass as his All-Pro kicker. At least one guy was paying attention.
