As it turns out, there’s a good reason for the absence of Mike Keenan from the Browns’ web site.
Keenan has been fired, according to Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
And Keenan isn’t alone. Also terminated, per Grossi, is vice president of football administration Dawn Aponte, who still appears as of this posting on the team’s web site.
Grossi explains that the fates of both Keenan and Aponte were sealed when Bryan Wiedmeier arrived earlier this week. Aponte, whose name still appears on the Browns’ web site, reportedly will be joining the Dolphins.
She was a rarity in NFL circles -- a female in a high position of authority. After the Browns fired G.M. George Kokinis, Aponte was acting as the de facto G.M.
