Source: Reports of Reese to Seattle are premature, at best

Recently, both the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reported that Patriots exec Floyd Reese is one of two finalists for the G.M. job in Seattle. La Canfora then upped the ante, explaining that "[t]here continue to be indications” that Reese is the “favorite to land the position.”

Not so, a source with knowledge of the search process tells us.

Per the source, Reese is not yet a finalist, and he might never be. “I don’t think he gets the job,” the source said. “I think he created the entire story. . . . [He] killed himself by blabbing to the media. That was a bad move by him.”

This information meshes with a new item from John Clayton of ESPN.com, who reports that Packers exec John Schneider is still a candidate, even though he wasn’t listed as one of the two finalists. Clayton also reports that a decision as to the two finalists has not yet been made.
