The Oakland Raiders, despite only five wins in 2009, now have three Pro Bowlers.
Joining cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and punter Shane Lechler is long snapper Jon Condo.
Condo apparently isn’t replacing anyone who was injured; it’s possible that none of the players named to the roster would be comfortable snapping for placekicks and punts. We’re trying to get the details as to how Condo landed on the team.

Good for Jon. Dude does a hell of a job, game in and game out.
Sad fact is Nate Kaeding is kicking for the AFC, when Janikowski, only had 3 misses all year, from 45, 54 and 57 and he also made a 61 yard field goal. Talk about being screwed out of the probowl.

the coaches choose their own long snapper for the pro-bowl every year.. seriously do you even like football florio? maybe you should stick to posting videos of your autistic son drumming or making lame seinfeld jokes and let the people who actually know the sport post the stories.
Same thing happened when Brian Moorman went for the Bills… the LS got to roll with.
Not sure if that’s the case every year, or just in situations where no one can long snap.

It’s only a matter of time before Kaeding backs out and Janikowski (rightfully) goes as well.
“How Condo landed on the team?” Nobody votes on long snappers, and they ALWAYS bring them in. Condo makes the most sense because his punter is in the game.
Nnamdi was no doubt the best CB at a time, but really how do we know he is still top notch anymore if teams don’t throw his way? We’ll never know I guess if people go off of the past.
Also, Norv Turner is coaching the AFC squad, and he’s the one that chooses Condo. He probably chose him because of Lechler, and because he’s seen him as a division rival’s coach.
Raiders kicker should also be there especially after that triple choke job of Kaeding.
I thought this was going to say Janikowski made the team. He got hosed majorly. He missed 3 kicks all season (45, 57, 67). 2 out of his 3 were from 57 and 67?!?! The dude is a stud. And he it a 62 yarder in 10 degree weather in Cleveland in December. Kaeding is a bum. Jano shouldve gotten the nod.

The details are that the head coach of each pro bowl team selects one player not voted on his roster. Usually, they pick a long snapper. Until this year, coaches usually brought along their own snapper. Now it’s a rule they can’t.

Each coach of the Pro Bowl teams have 1 open slot to pick a “Need Player”. This is usually given to long snappers and since Shane is the punter, I would asume he suggested to the coaching staff that they use his snapper.

JaMarcus was the 33rd rated passer in the league this season. That’s quite an accomplishment in a 32 team league. As for Condo, he’s been solid. I don’t recall him making a mistake all season. Of course, I don’t recall what I ate for breakfast this morning.

It makes sense for the punter to bring in his long snapper for the Pro Bowl. Its not exactly a position anyone would feel snubbed by if they didnt make it anyway
