Chad Rinehart arrested in Iowa

After a regular season featuring a relatively small amount of off-field trangressions, there has been a rash of alleged criminal misconduct lately among NFL players.

The latest?  Redskins guard Chad Rinehart was busted in Iowa for public intoxication.

The arrest came Monday, outside Mojo’s Pizza House in Cedar Falls.

Rinehart played college football at Northern Iowa before joining the ‘Skins via round three of the 2008 draft.  He was placed on injured reserve with a broken leg after starting four games during the 2009 season.

UPDATE:  The Redskins have issued a response to the news.  “We are aware of this incident but have no further comment,” the team said in a statement provided to us by e-mail.

Speaking as someone who has literally spent close to 50% of my adult nightlife intoxicated in public let me say that you have to be acting like a pretty big a-hole to get arrested for public intoxication.

You bet we know he’s on our team. He was the first (and still only) offensive lineman selected by the Redskins in the top three rounds since Chris Samuels in 2000. And we know he wasn’t worth it.

Throw in a couple of aggravated assault charges, maybe a weapons offense or two and Al Davis will trade a #1 pick for him

Too bad he didn’t put that much effort into playing guard for us. And…why would he need to take a breath test? For what? Stumbling?

Guess the guy had to go back to his old college town to get recognized and be a big shot.
    Mission accomplished!

Didn’t this guy have some off field problems in college too? Seems like he transferred from a Big 10 or Big 12 school to N. IA after some issue.

Glad to see that the lone lineman who wasn’t able to make the field consistently can make the inside of a jail cell. Way to go Rhinehart. There is nothing that says more than responsibility to you new bosses that you are trying to impress like getting arrested for drunk in public. Cut him and move on.
