Harvin questionable . . . to fly to New Orleans

Vikings receiver Percy Harvin, the 2009 AP offensive rookie of the year, officially is listed questionable for Sunday’s NFC title game against the Saints, due to a migraine headache that started on Thursday.

According to John Clayton of ESPN, Harvin first has to be able to board the team charter to New Orleans.  It leaves tomorrow, and Harvin currently is questionable to be on the flight.

In theory, Harvin could fly down separately if he isn’t feeling better when the team plane leaves.

    Quick Plan:
Get Brett to have his buddy John fire the Madden-Cruiser and drive Percy to New Orleans.
Seriously, I wonder if the headaches are related to being in Minnesota in the fall / winter.

Hooby — he has had migrane problems all year, but he has only missed one NFL game because of migranes. I don’t know about college though.

Although often cited as a source of pain relief, marijuana use has been found to cause migraines in certain individuals, especially those with a history of migraine pain. The causes of migraines are not fully known, but there is evidence to support the view that fluctuating neurotransmitter levels may be one cause. The many compounds found in marijuana may disrupt normal neurotransmitter release patterns when ingested through smoking.

Migraines were triggered by stupid idea of pumping crowd noise into practice. Good job Chilly.

And if the Vikings loose, you will never hear me use Percy Harvin as an excuse…no excuses. Let’s see if you can hold up to that standard.
    You’re right…Karma is a bitch…

Migraines are a serious medical issue, often requiring hospitalization, something not realized by those very young or medically ignorant.

Brilliant assessment! If only the Vikings would have thought of that, moron. They’ve had multiple specialists see Harvin and even took him to arguably the most reputible medical establishment in the world — the Mayo Clinic. Problem is migranes are unique to each individual and there’s no across the board treament or preventative measure that works for everyone, so the key is figuring out what triggers Harvin’s migranes and what works for him.

  29. NightTrainNeckTie says: Jan 22, 2010 5:00 PM

Is this all migraine realted? Because if it is he has my deepest condolences. I get them about 5 times a year, and that’s 5 times too much if you ask me. I couldn’t imagine getting them with the frequency he seems to get them. That would make me borderline suicidal. Is there a lot of snow on the ground currently in minnesota, it’s possible that the snow cover reflecting sunlight could trigger his migraines, but I’d have to think 3 years in Gainesville would have exposed him to the same dosage of sunlight.

  30. BenRapistberger says: Jan 22, 2010 5:01 PM

It was an issue in college and was on his scouting report. I guess Chilly really stuck it to Belichick, huh?
That being said, people should stop giving the guy shit for it. It’s not like he’s not being tough, it’s not really in his control…

You mean Favre hoisting the Lombardi trophy as Viking will have the same effect on Packers as giving them a book to read ? ”
    Abject fear, horror and confusion”
    That sounds about right.

  33. KrazyTrumpeter05 says: Jan 22, 2010 5:18 PM

I bet all the people laughing and saying “lol, man up it’s a headache” have never actually had a migraine. It’s seriously the worst pain you could ever feel, and easily incapacitating.

  34. THEpackersAREwhere? says: Jan 22, 2010 5:24 PM

He gets migrains all the time. Dont you dumb asses think that if there were a cure he would have gotten it? Every week this is a “story” and every week the same dumb ass people post the same dumb ass comments. They were slightly funny the first time, but after literally dozens of the same thing its not. Maybe he should light up AFTER he gets that taken care of, but it wont help cause karmas a bitch. Aint I so god damn funny and original?! Btw, what does Karma have to do with anything? What has he done to deserve “Karma” to getting back at him?

  35. Bigbluefan says: Jan 22, 2010 5:34 PM

How much is this guy getting paid to sit in a dark room?
Or is he giving back a game check when he does not play
People are not being nasty its a fact this guy gets big dollars and has a headache no I never had one but for what he is making I damn sure would get my ass to work

  36. prmpft says: Jan 22, 2010 5:40 PM

the karma reference was exceedingly STUPID…
the injury game is crazy – i’ll believe he ain’t there when he ain’t there…

I bet John Redcorn could help him with those migraines.

  38. tatum32 says: Jan 22, 2010 6:02 PM

Percy, take a tylenol – you will need to light it up on specials. you may be the x-factor along with Visante Shiancoe.

  39. Chapnasty2 says: Jan 22, 2010 6:07 PM

Karam would be Brett throwing a cheap TD and throwing sportsmanship out the window. Easy, geez having to explain things to you people is difficult.
**note: hopefully Harvin gets his situation taken care of. Great young talent and let’s hope it’s not something that may end his career, or more importantly challenge his quality of life**

  43. OscarMooseFarmer says: Jan 22, 2010 6:41 PM

You gotta feel bad for him.
I’ve played WR, and i suffer from migraines. Now you tough yourself through most any injuries…but man, when those things hit i couldn’t locate a ball in the air and i wouldn’t have the hand strength to grab it. Of course it wouldn’t matter because when it’s really bad just standing upright is a problem.
Don’t know how much Harvin can do to avoid it either. I know mine are triggered by so many different things, really any kind of light, smell or noise that pushes the senses a little.
I hope he plays, he sure is fun to watch.
