The Detroit Lions lost a quarterbacks coach and gained a special teams coordinator today.
Quarterbacks coach Jeff Horton is leaving the team to become offensive coordinator at the University of Minnesota, while Danny Crossman has been hired as special teams coordinator.
Despite Horton’s departure, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford will not be getting a new position coach. The Detroit News reports that the Lions won’t have a quarterbacks coach in 2010, and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan will handle the day-to-day responsibilities of coaching the quarterbacks.
Crossman replaces Stan Kwan, who was fired at the end of the regular season. Crossman was fired by the Panthers last week after seven years with the franchise.
Genius. Why would a second-year quarterback need a position coach?
As a Citizen of the great state of Minnesota i would like to say that the Gophers are an absolute embarasment to the state and its citizens. The only exception is Eric Decker, who was an absolute beast before the injury.
Yeah a 2nd year QB doesn’t need a qb coach, Lions will never get it. 9 wins in 3 seasons says enough.
Horton fears a coup?
@madhack LOL!
Eh, not a big deal. Would they rather have a new QB coach every year or keep Linehan for 3-5 years and at least have Stafford listening to the same guy? Change in staffs usually results in failure…
Panther fans have been screaming to fire Crossman for years. Just another dumbass move by the Lions. They will never get it.
