Caldwell: We’ll prepare as if we’re playing Sunday

Colts head coach Jim Caldwell met with the media Monday for the first time as AFC Champion. He’s quickly changed gears into Super Bowl preparation mode, and says he plans to do most of his gameplanning this week.

“We’re going to try to get our guys prepared as quickly as we possibly can,” Caldwell said. “That’s our intent, we’re going to prepare this week as if we’re playing them Sunday.”

Having experienced Super Bowl week once, the Colts know what a time commitment their media obligations will be next week. The team will practice Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday this week. They will travel down to South Florida on Monday.

Caldwell said he celebrated the victory over dinner with his parents and 17-18 others while watching the NFC game. And then he got back to work. Learning a little more about Caldwell is one of the storylines we’re looking forward to in Miami.

We haven’t heard from the Saints yet Monday, but Sean Payton’s staff is among the few people actually working in New Orleans Monday.
