Tom Brady played through a variety of injuries this season, but none should be a lasting problem.
“I’m excited I don’t have to have surgery this offseason,” Brady said at a charity appearance Monday, according to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.
Brady suffered injuries to his ribs, shoulder, and finger. But it was uncharacteristically his decision-making that often got the Patriots into problems. On a positive note, Brady’s surgically repaired knee didn’t appear to be a huge problem.
“I remember a year ago at this time there were all these concerns on whether I was going to play this year,” Brady said. “I was never concerned about that. It’s nice to be in an offseason when I really feel like I can get started right away.”
Physically, the season has to be considered a success for Brady. With his health intact and his contract ending in 2010, talk about a possible extension is sure to come. But it’s not Brady’s style to say much.
“We’re way overpaid as it is,” he said. “That’s not really a concern.”
