Report: Cedric Griffin has torn ACL

The Vikings’ inability to close out the final drive of Sunday night’s game with a score has cost them more than a berth in the Super Bowl.

According to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times, cornerback Cedric Griffin has a torn ACL.

Griffin injured the knee while covering the kickoff to start overtime.

Per Jensen, no other ligaments are damaged.

Griffin, a four-year veteran, had a career-high four interceptions in 2009.

    It just gets better and better. They’ll lose Favre, possibly lose Pat Williams, and now they lost their best long term DB all off-season. Hell, there’s a chance Griffin won’t even be the same player when he returns. Not to mention out of shape because he won’t be able to participate in OTAs, training camp, and possibly the preseason.
    I hope Favre was worth it.

    You’re like the Ed Werder of PFT these days. All you do now is post Vikings updates. Interesting, Mike.

    Clearly Favre is to blame. Retard.
    Why the hell does everyone hate him? He only came in and had his best year of his career, took the Vikings to within a few awful officiating calls of a Superbowl, and was one of the best QBs in the league this year. I’m guessing he just decided ‘I’m gonna play lights out this year so I can inflate my ego’ right?

    Professor……… That has got to be one of the dumbest posts I have ever seen.

    @BenRapistberger –
    You’re gonna blame that game on the officials? Seriously? Penalties are the reason the Vikings lost? Couldn’t have been the fumbles and INT’s right? Must have been the penalties…

    Wow………………….Professor……….words can’t describe how stupid that post was.

    Are you at Viking headquarters as they cleaned out their lockers? I feel as if it is Vikings day today, all day and nothing else matters.

    Unfortunately, this is what this site has become.
    Know nothing idiots cheering injury.
    Professor is obviously meant as a joke. He hasn’t posted anything of value…ever.

    Sorry to everyone that is sick about hearing about the Vikings stories. In case you didn’t notice they played yesterday. Typically injury news is all over this site the day after a game. It’s really a shame these guys at PFT can’t come up with any breaking injury news for the Lions, as I’m sure you would all rather hear about that. MN has many stories to report on, Favre’s “retirement”, Fat Pat’s possible retirement, Griffin’s injury, players not playing in the Pro Bowl now that they are eligible for the Pro Bowl.
    Please, commenters that are obviously NFL experts, what do you want to hear about? Game plans for the Pro Bowl? News for teams whose season’s ended weeks ago? What did you expect to see on the site today?

    @Professor
    Celebrating a football injury to any player is the most idiotic thing ever. After Courtney Roby returned the kickoff 60 yards and got up limping I found myself holding my breath for him and I am a huge Vikings fan. You do not deserve to watch football and I feel sorry for you and anyone who has the displeasure of knowing you.

    professor, i’d have to imagine that there are quite a few packer fans that are embarrassed by your representation of their fan base…
    i hope ced’s gonna be ok. i like the way he’s come around over the past 2 years from the guy who’d give up 6-7 yards on every play, just to keep it in front of him. he’s really learned how to play aggressively.

    I wonder what he is a professor of?
    Douchebaggery?
