Winfield pulls out of Pro Bowl

We mentioned earlier today the possibility that more than a few of the 10 Vikings to qualify for the Pro Bowl won’t play due to injury, real or embellished.

The first one to go is cornerback Antoine Winfield, according to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Winfield, who was added last week as an injury replacement, reinjured his right foot on Sunday.  He’ll have an MRI this week.

Next up?  We predict that quarterback Brett Favre, guard Steve Hutchinson, and defensive tackle Kevin Williams will bow out sooner rather than later.

Another idiot thing the suits who write the stupid rules and the totally misleading and worthless strength of schedule calculation for placing teams in the playoffs or draft order, another brilliant thing these sons of money have done to screw up NFL football.
A pro bowl that no players want to go to and fans dont want to see. I see on ebay they are selling combined programs of BOTH the Pro Bowl AND the Super Bowl ONLY as a package at near double cost of one magazine. Are Super Bowl ticket buyers also forced to buy BOTH tickets?

He missed the NFC Champioship Game too !!!

Hutchinson was not injured yesterday…he lost his shoe and came out for two plays…not saying he’s going but if you’re reasoning is that he got injured yesterday than you would be incorrect

    More compelling game:
    Pro Bowl
    or
A week 2 preseason game between the Redskins and Bills?

And don’t bother calling Cedric Griffin as a replacement. Or E. J. Henderson for that matter.

    Who is next up then?
I gotta think it’s Sheldon Brown or Mike Jenkins.

This one isn’t a suprise. He’s still suffering from a broken foot.
You can probably add Bryant McKinney, Steve Hutchinson, Brett Farve and Kevin Williams to this list. Maybe Adrian Petersen too.

Don’t be surprised if they go 10-for-10 on abstentions. The ProBowl would be such a colossal let-down after their “All-Favre, All-Now” effort failed. They won’t be able to pretend they’re enjoying themselves. It is shameful that they gave Brett the reins and let Peterson grow stale and unable to contribute until it was too late. I place that albatross on the coaches shoulders. Still think Chilly deserved the extension?

If I remember right, no Packer has been in the NFC championship game since Favre was their quarterback…….. Just saying…….. I don’t think they have won a playoff game at all in the last 2 years either………….
    Just sayin….

If I remember right, the Packers have 12 Championships, and the Vikings have none.
Just sayin….(and I’m not a Packer fan so spare the bs)

This is actually 1 of those times when the replacement was more deserving then the actual ones who initially got the spots. Sheldon Brown was 1 of the best corners in the league and like London Fletcher has never been recognized for it.
He will make his 1 pro-bowl of his career and deservingly so.

Tell me, before last season, how many seasons did the great Vikings go without winning a playoff game? Wasn’t it something like 4 seasons? Yeah that’s what I thought.
