UFL could be moving to Sacramento

The upstart UFL is reconsidering the wisdom of putting teams in markets already serviced by the NFL.

As a result, the team currently headquartered in San Francisco could be moving up the road to Sacramento, according to Matthew Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

Commissioner Michael Huyghue said Monday that the UFL plans to make an announcement next month, when the deal is finalized.

If/when it happens, the current nickname — Redwoods — will be changed.  And the games would be played at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium, which will be switched from grass to an artificial surface.

And the good news is that the venue has only 22,500 seats, which will create the illusion that the UFL draws better than a winless WNBA team.

I almost think that you have the sarcastic closing line of everyone of your posts planned before you write the actual article. Well played.

I enjoyed watching the games on Versus last year, the attendance was terrible, and it looks like it will fold soon, unless the NFL decides to make it a “minor” league of sort…

The real story here is that the UFL still exists.

I watched a couple of the games and the championship. Moderately amusing if nothing else is on that interests me. Certainly better than the XFL a few years ago, but that’s not saying much.
Nothing that would draw me to be a fan of a particular team though or follow it all the time.

its better than nothing on thursday nights, and although I’m not often watching NFLN on thursdays anyway, it is a better put together show too, better play by play and color commentary.

Hornet Stadium, really? Thats a glorified High School stadium. Might as well use UC-Davis’ new field

So down the road will there be a new Full Color Football series for the UFL?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to wait for the Niner’s to move out. They would have San Francisco to themselves.

Why does everyone hate the UFL, I enjoyed it. Football is fun to watch no matter who plays.

Just change their name to “Morningwoods” and they’d have instant popularity.
