Giants hire Nunn as defensive line coach

In only a couple of years, the New York Giants’ defensive line has gone from one of the best in the league to one of the most disappointing in the league. Today the team hired a new coach whose job is to change that.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has announced that he filled the only vacancy on his coaching staff by hiring Robert Nunn to be the team’s new defensive line coach. Nunn replaces Mike Waufle, who had been the Giants’ defensive line coach for the last six years.

“I think the results will come back for us,” Coughlin said. “He will coach a very important position on our team, one that we will rely on heavily to bring us back to the level of championship play.”

Nunn coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ defensive line in 2009. He has also been an assistant with the Packers, Dolphins and Redskins.

  1. WTF: Nunn’s defensive line accounted for just 17 sacks, and the Bucs’ defense ranked dead last in the NFL against the run (158.2 yards per game).
Hard headed TC just sang his swan song…enjoy retirement TC…it was fun while it lasted.

  2. trueblue75 – And Spagnola worked with the weakest part of the Eagles defense. Philly fans were on these boards ripping us Giants fans that we did them a “favor” by taking away Spags. How did that work out? You can’t tell what the Nunn will do based on ONE year on a miserable, talentless team. Besides, he has a minor role. The real test will be how Fewell does.

  3. Looking at his bio I think its pretty impressive. Some fans here are excited to be in the stands and see what the new defense can do. Or you all can go out there and play for them and see where they go.
