The last time we heard from Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding, he was publicly apologizing for missing three kicks in San Diego’s divisional round loss.
We won’t be hearing from him this week at the Pro Bowl either.
Kaeding was a last minute scratch; Miami’s Dan Carpenter will replace him.
We can’t help but wonder if Sebastian Janikowski was offered the spot first, but turned it down. Or if Carpenter was just available because it’s nearby.
We feel badly for Kaeding, but also wonder what he used as an injury excuse. Armando Salguero wrote it before we could: bruised confidence?
UPDATE: Kaeding was on hand at the Pro Bowl, but hurt his groin there.

I think he wants to be as far away from center stage as possible right now. He should take a trip to Buffalo or Jacksonville.
“We feel badly for Kaeding, but also wonder what he used as an injury excuse?”
Post-traumatic stress disorder maybe?
didn’t look like he deserved it any way.
“Kaeding misses Pro Bowl”
I heard he missed it wide-right.
Kaeding misses Pro Bowl – wide right… Jano should have been there anyway. yawn.
sliced left, i am sure
TYPICAL!
Kaeding cant make it because he and Scott Norwood were travelling together and they missed the exit ramp wide right.
They told him to come to Miami to just kick-it,
so he missed…
Rimshot
Still trying to get Norv’s boot out of his butt?
Kick his ass Sea bass!
what doesn’t this guy miss??????
I’ve never seen someone buckle under pressure as many times as this guy. Regular season heros don’t mean jack sh!t when they can’t perform in the playoffs.
Janikowski deserved the spot. He was money all year AND had a 61-yarder against Cleveland.
Kaeding was practicing for probowl and pulled something that is why he is out!!
I heard they did call Jano but he couldn’t be reached because he was passed out on GHB at the local “discotech”….
Carpenter was in the running as a rookie too. I was bummed he wasn’t the starter this year. Next up Lou Polite.
WIDE RIGHT!!
Carpenter only missed 3 field goals all year just like Kaeding and Janikowski. I gotta gloat, a University of Montana Grizzly at the Pro Bowl, life is good.
The issue is Sea-Bass is a Raider so he is automaticly hated on by the NFL. He should have been in the Pro Bowl in the first place Kaeding even proved that!
the word you mean to use is “bad” not the adverb “badly.” I know this and I had 2.4 GPA. Go figure.
They offered it to Carpenter just because he was nearby? That tells you what the NFL front office thinks about kickers, doesn’t it?
@BoltsTrev2120, ya, and next to your Mama. Fitting the Chargers have a kicker that folds like a deck of cards under pressure just like the Chargers teams have done decade in and decade out.
You hold up those whole (2) AFC Championship games played in to date up against an NFL record (14) the Raiders have played in or the (1) SB made to date vs the Raiders (5) and you can see just what a garbage organization the Chargers have been for over 40 years.
Nate Kaeding is up there with Scott Norwood and Ray Finkle from Ace Ventura Pet Detective. Thanks Nate. Keep up the good work.

Go Griz. As a Montana Dolphins fan, it makes my heart feel good. Next up Lex Hilliard.
They should have a kicking skills contest at the probowl. Distance, accuracy, trick shots. HORSE.
And Jano was robbed in the first place.
