Report: Warner hasn't told Cardinals his plans

Kurt Warner will reportedly announce his future plans at a press conference Friday at Arizona Cardinals headquarters. But he apparently hasn’t told the Cardinals what those plans are.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that as of Wednesday afternoon, after ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Warner would make the announcement, Warner had not informed the Cardinals of his decision, and the team hadn’t announced the timing of a press conference.

Warner’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, said “there will probably be a press conference on Friday,” but Bartelstein declined to say what the announcement would be.

Meanwhile, Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that a source with knowledge of the situation says Warner is retiring and may announce his post-football plans.

On the other hand, Clark Judge of CBS Sports reports that another source said Warner could go in either direction.

And so football fans are left to speculate what Warner will do. And be thankful that Warner plans to finalize his decision in January, not August.

I hope this guy gets in the Hall of Fame before Favre does. One my generations best QB’s. (I’m 25)

No matter the topic, you take a shot at Favre but I get a kick out of the Insiders. God, I’m retired but if ESPN or NFL Network would hire me I could guess as well or bad as they do. I love it when they are wrong it will never be admitted or if they say anything it is somebody else who is wrong.

I think Kurt is going to Jordan it and try and play baseball now, something about him….i dunno if he’d be the pitcher or the catcher….prob the catcher. Retire Kurt dont be gay like Favre and waffle

He’s obviously retiring. He’s not gonna call a press conference to announce he’s not retiring. There shouldn’t be any suspense with this announcement.

  9. cleanface says: Jan 27, 2010 10:09 PM

Maybe God hasn’t directly instructed him on what to do yet. Yeah, I’m sure that’s it…..waiting on a directive from the almighty being on whether or not to play football again. Warner is delusional.

If I am Kurt Warner, I’d retire. You got your health for the most part besides the concussions. Get out while you can. You’ve made boatloads of money. You won’t be working at grocery stores anymore unless doing charity work. Just do something else besides play football.

God is busy with Tim Tebow and the Senior bowl, he will let Warner know to retire on Friday.

  13. TMI says: Jan 27, 2010 11:42 PM

When was the last time a player called a press conference to say he’s coming back???

  14. Stinson says: Jan 28, 2010 3:12 AM

    Arizona should draft Tebow!
    It all makes sense now.

  15. JNB says: Jan 28, 2010 3:29 AM

Come back for another season, Kurt! “You can do it!” Pretend I yelled that like the guy on Waterboy.

lmao. and yeahh srsly… this article is so useless.

  17. ingreenmts says: Jan 28, 2010 6:18 AM

At the Senior Bowl, God is telling Tim Tebow to find another profession – preacher maybe? As for Warner, God already rang his bell.

  18. Terry says: Jan 28, 2010 6:44 AM

There’s NO NEED for a press conference if he we staying!

  19. gwinn1952 says: Jan 28, 2010 7:18 AM

And we wonder why people get tired of Farve. The article was supposed to be about Warner but he had to get a dig in on Farve. Farve doesn’t cause the circus……all you writers do.

Kurt can do what he wants when he wants. He earned the right. He’s paid his dues. The only people who deserve an explanation is his wife and children….and maybe Larry Fitz.

Memo to Brett Favre: Watch and learn
yep, Favre, if he retires or returns and sticks with his decision than this is what you NEED to learn, you don’t retire then want to come back twice, you make a decision and stick with it, if Warner does indeed return, i do feel Tim Tebow should get looked at so he can watch and learn from the great Warner, but it sounds like he will retire and if he does and sticks to his decision than in my book, he went out like he should.
