Retirement a “toss-up” for Jason Ferguson

Miami Dolphins nose tackle Jason Ferguson says he hasn’t yet decided whether he’ll return for a 2010 season during which he’ll turn 36 years old.

Ferguson told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald that it’s a “toss-up” whether or not he’ll play again. Ferguson will be an unrestricted free agent, but given his age and the quadriceps injury that landed him on injured reserve in November, he wouldn’t likely have many suitors.

Ferguson says he doesn’t want his decision-making process to restrict the Dolphins’ off-season plans.

“I don’t want to hold them up,” he said.

Ferguson played from 1997 to 2004 for the Jets, from 2005 to 2007 with the Cowboys and 2008 and 2009 with the Dolphins.
