Leinart will throw for 3,500 yards and 25 TD, easily. It’s a non-issue.
He had a very decent rookie year and hasn’t gotten a real chance since. Warner is a damn good QB, hard to keep him off the field.
Matt will make a few Pro Bowls in his career. Cards will still compete. No need for any drama.

I think that Matt will be better than a lot of people think. His biggest problem beore wasn’t talent but maturity. I don’t think that he took job as seriously as he should have and a little time behind Kurt may have gotten him to do so. I also think that with St. Pierre giving him some competition, he may not just go into the spring with a sense of entitlement and try to coast because if he does, he’s headed for the scrap heap.

First I’m not a cardinals fans.
second I’m not saying Leinart is gonna come out next year and blow up like Rodgers did.
what I am saying is that it is a little quick to say he totally sucks and can’t play in the NFL.
as for your Jamrcus comment – Leinart has taken steps to get better, he has ackowledged that his behavior ( partying with Paris and underage girls ) was hurting him, and he has changed that about himself. That fat bastard Russell continues to place blame on everyone else all while shoving massive amounts of fast food down his throat, so the comparision doesn’t really work.

You’ve got 2 things going for you:
1– You’re right that ARI will be forced to run more and Wells/Hightower should be fairly effective
2– Your name, Big Stretch, is exactly how I’d describe your evaluation of Leinart.

By using this argument, there’s still hope for J. Russell. Unfortunately we cant compare rookie years because he only had 66 attempts so lets look at his 2008 numbers.
53.8% comp, 2423 yd, 13 td, 8 int, 77.1 rating
And he was on a much worse team, without a Fitzgerald or Boldin to throw to.
It’s time to stop being a Homer and look at things realistically. Leinart is slow, holds the ball too long, doesnt react well, and has no arm.
Leinart and Russell will be out of the league by 2011.

I’m a USC, and I thought Leinart was the best QB coming out of that class (VY, Leinart, Cutler), however. He had one bad rookie season and the next season Warner was added to the roster. Warner WAS totally screwed that season as he didn’t get to start until mid-way and after Leinart failed, but the sophmore slump happens to the best second year QB’s, Examples: Flacco, Ryan. Third year, Once again, Leinart was given the chance to start in training camp and he lost out to Warner, who is still better than 75% of the QB’s in the league, so losing out to him doesn’t say much about Leinart as he’s a young QB. He started a few games here and there when Warner was hurt, but what you need to remember is, Warner got MOST of the first-team snaps while Leinart played with the second team. That makes a HUGE difference in terms of what kind of chem he can get going with his receivers. Example: Kolb comes in for McNabb and he looks so bad I thought he was the 3rd string QB on my St. Louis Rams. Kolb takes first-team snaps and he looks like Kurt Warner for 2 or 3 consecutive weeks (whatever it was) and he looked so good that McNabb rushed back because he saw his job going buh-byes.

As long as they give him the same game plan he will be fine.
If they shift it to a running game like Pitt had when Whizpizz was there, then he might struggle.
Warner has a losing record in Arizona, and just surpassed Leinart’s winning% in AZ this season.
If Leinart starts all 16 games, he will pass Warner’s winning % again.
The Cards will be fine with Leinart as long as they do not change the plan.

Leinhart is not the answer. And I expect the cards to have a losing season under him. I expect florio to bash the cards the whole way (he couldn’t even wait for tomorrow’s announcement).
With that said, they have to find out what they have for the money spent. Then if it turns out the way most of us think it will, they can make a change for the following year. Believe me, you won’t hear many cards fans saying Leinhart is going to get it done.
So roll out the negative cards articles Mike. You’ve been waiting for this for a couple years.

Ok, Leinart is a complete tool and has had plenty of chances. You cannot compare him to Rodgers, who had to sit back and learn from Favre for years without the hint of a chance at starting. Leinart was given chance after chance, so much that it wasn’t even fair to Warner. The Cards wanted him to be their franchise QB but he failed miserably.
The Cardinals destroyed the Bears this season, so much that they benched Warner just long enough for Leinart to throw a pick. The brief moment he was in the game completely swung momentum to the Bears side. Arizona wisely brought Warner back in to throw his 5th TD.
He could be improved after sittin back with a clipboard for a while, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Rodgers is a higher caliber QB all around. If you want to compare him to someone, he’s got pretty much the same story as Vince Young. Except Vince Young is better.

the following 2 years he has played sporadically because Kurt Warner is a HOF QB. It’s ridiculous to assume that because he didnt blow up his rookie year that he is no good. And in the 3 years following that he has started a total of 6 games and played in a total of 17.
By you standards QBs like Steve Young, Rich Gannon, Aaron Rodgers, Terry Bradshaw just to name a few should not have been given the opportunity to show they can play, as all those guys didnt start playing good until ther 4th or 5th season in the league.

In the limited play I’ve seen this past year he didn’t look out of place. He wasn’t ready a couple of years ago – he was too busy living the lifestyle. But now it seems like he has more focus. So who knows.

The Cardinals are gonna be running the ball next year more than they have in the 4 years Leinart has been there, and if they can do it effectively with Wells and Hightower, than he should be ok.
Remember people where saying Aaron Rodgers wasn’t good during his limited action backing up Favre and we can all see now that he is the starter that those people were wrong. So I think people need to step back and give Leinart a chance to prove he is good enough now that he will be the clear number 1 and won’t have the pressure of having a HOF QB on the roster.

Leinart’s already gotten chance after chance, with those WRs and has proven he doesnt belong in the NFL. If Warner retires, ARI becomes a team drafting in the top 8 next year. Maybe that’s their plan seeing how his 2011 salary means he’ll be sent packing, then the Wissenator can finally draft his own QB.

I really hope that Matt can pull this off.
Aaron Rogers sat this long and go to learn from one of the greats and that worked out pretty well for Green Bay.
Lets hope that Matt actually learned something from kurt warner, other than how to throw a football with receiver gloves on.

I still can’t see Warner walking away from $10,000,000. Maybe he’ll pull a Favre… retire for a while… spend some time with Roger Clemens… then get a good system flush and show up late for camp.
