Mark Sanchez’s first NFL offseason may start with some rehab.
The Jets quarterback was in Birmingham, Alabama Wednesday to have his knee looked at by Dr. James Andrews.
We assumed it was Sanchez’s right knee that was the problem; he missed a game in early December because of an injury against the Bills. Jets G.M. Mike Tannenbaum said they looked at both knees.
Sanchez is expected to see a second or third opinion before deciding how to proceed. A decision will be made soon, and Tannenbaum says Sanchez “will be ready well before [training] camp.”
UPDATE: Manish Mehta of the Newark Star-Ledger reports the surgery would be on Sanchez’s left knee, which was originally hurt at USC. It would knock Sanchez out for two months. He’ll make a decision within one week.
