Underwood to sing National Anthem

Carrie Underwood will make it to the Super Bowl before her ex-boyfriend Tony Romo.

The NFL announced the country singer will sing the National Anthem and Queen Latifah will sing “America the Beautiful” before the Colts and Saints kick off.

I’m not sure what else really to say about the development, other than my wife will appreciate of the choice.  So Underwood has that going for her.

Really. Everyone else would be a better choice to sing “America the Beautiful”.

Does anyone really listen to the National Anthem on TV? I can understand it if you’re live at the game but as a TV viewer I use that time to take care of final game preparations such as taking a leak, loading up a plate with food, and putting the beer within sight of the TV.

Her fiance who is an NHL player will probably make it to the Super Bowl before Romo

The trash they roll out for SB halftime entertainment is bad enough (The Elderly Who singing a montage of their most popular songs is teh suck).
Do we really need two songs before the Super Bowl? Isn’t the National Anthem enough?

I watch the singing of our National Anthem. And I do so standing at attention, though it’s been a few years since I wore the uniform… I watch because one day I hope to see another singer match the passion and patriotism that Whitney Houston sang it with. Every time you go into a military movie theater you will be required to stand and watch Whitney sing it the right way. It never gets old…

Gotta love a Cowboys fan calling out a team that beat them by 31.
Oh, and how do you know Romo will make it there before the Vikings will?

  18. seabs926 says: Jan 28, 2010 2:16 PM

Only the US would have a national anthem, God Bless America, and America the Beautiful. Why not just sing them all?

  19. Kevin from Philly says: Jan 28, 2010 2:45 PM

    Big Blue in Texas,
You DO realize that Whitney was deep into the blow the night she sang at the Super Bowl, right? And that she was lip synching, too?

Thin skin, Gregg? Posting my comment then taking it out again. Did the crying child picture make you mad?

Rosenthal, that is the best opening line to a story that I have ever read. Well done my friend. Take the rest of the day off.

    response to raiders177…..GOOD ONE!!
response to BIG BLUE in tx: Amen brother and thanks for what you did while in the services. Apparently the idiot Kevin from Philly does not understand that what you and the past vets, present as well gives him the right to post that crappy comment BUT HE STILL HAS THAT RIGHT. Let’s start a fund to ship his ass to the middle east somewhere, where they think Americans are crap and see how he likes living there. No one to defend his rights nor to care if he lives or dies. But hey, there’s one in every bunch. Wait didn’t the past and present soldiers fight for that right too…..

It wasn’t funny the first time you said it.
And nobody ever lip synchs the National Anthem.

Yet another reference to Romo and one of his babes. I’m surprised that no one else noticed that all that shit didn’t happen to Tiger until he started hanging out with Romo at that U-2 concert in Dallas last summer.

  26. Chapnasty2 says: Jan 28, 2010 4:22 PM

It’s too bad she cant do the halftime show as well. Still havent figured out “who” The Who is.

The Vikings didn’t win it so much as the Cowboys lost it.
Yeah, sounds pretty stupid, doesn’t it?

  29. slipkid says: Jan 28, 2010 6:45 PM

the who at half power is still better than virtually any other act.
the vikes beat dallas. then the saints beat minnehaha. just not by enough.

  30. The Coop says: Jan 28, 2010 7:34 PM

chapnasty, that would be an outrageous comment for most people, but i have read several of your comments on other threads and, well, your ignorance is about as surprising as Florio taking cheap shots at people’s physical appearance

    Ouch.

  32. proudamerican says: Jan 29, 2010 12:46 PM

I think it is a shame when Americans think that the National Anthem is not much. You should be proud and be thankful that you live in US and that we have such a beautiful country and a free country and we are safe. You should be proud that we have such great military people to put their life on the line for us. You should be glad to sing about your country of U.S. I sing the National Anthem at different activities and I feel it is an honor. Would love to sing at the Super Bowl. I would NOT want to live any other place than America.

Mike Fisher would kick Romo’s ass any day
