Maualuga arrested for DUI

Just as the “day without an arrest” meter crept back into double digits, there’s been another incident.

Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga was arrested Friday morning for DUI and careless in Kentucky.  (Thanks to Mo Egger of 1530 Homer for the head’s up.)

It’s unknown whether the field sobriety test included asking Maualuga to correctly spell his own name.

If you read closely, you’ll notice the arrest report says he was initially pulled over because his hair was swerving.

Here come all the Bengal haters saying we’re back to trouble. When in fact we’ve been clean for a long time and will stay clean after this. Every team has it’s issues. It was bound to happen again.

The Bengals ask for this criticism. They are the ones who draft players and sign free agents with serious character issues. It was known when he was at USC that he wasn’t exactly a model citizen. My point is there is a reason that people bag on the Bengals for this crap.

Cincy is right on the Kentucy border. Many Cincy suburbs and the airport are actually in Kentucky.

In regards to what Verbal Kint said, Rey Maualuga would most likely hit Chris Jericho with an early Spear, but Chris would get his shoulder up at the last possible second and put Rey in the Walls of Jericho causing him to submit!

@ Benito – Lived here all 50 years of my life and never heard anyone say that about Cinci. Maybe Hamilton and Franklin, but not Cinci.

  28. BengalsDouche2 says: Jan 29, 2010 10:25 AM

Oh please. I don’t hear everyone bagging every other team in the league as much as us b/c of player issues. We’ve been pretty clean for a couple of years now. This guy is a great teammate and a good ball player. He’s doing good for the community around here. Showing up at a lot of events signing autographs and such. How many of you couch Qb’s on here haven’t had a few drinks and drove? Give the guy a break. It’s not like he’s jumping people in vegas (joey porter) or an accomplise to a murder (ray lewis) or beating his wife (tom cable). But you hear very little about all that. But once it comes to the Bengals, god forbid something happen.

wtf were u doing in kentucky???
what i dont get is why all these football, baseball, basketball players get in trouble for stuff like this…. watch the show entourage and take an idea from it… get ur self a friend like turtle who will drive u around hold ur gun/drugs and what ever else you want and if stuff hits the fan he gets caught up and not you the “star”… just throw him a girl here and there and that would keep him happy… and nfl or baseball players looking for a turtle please hit me up i’ll be ur turtle… hahaha

  31. Biglardawg says: Jan 29, 2010 10:53 AM

Maybe Ray still can’t get over that stupid christmas video he was involved in.
Cincitucky is in Kentucky, not Ohio. Just like their airport and aquarium.

Bengals say they have cleaned up their act, but remember when Chris Henry died (he who had done all the right things,) the 911 call said ‘”a black man on it with no shirt on, and he’s got his arm in a cast and black pants on,” she told a dispatcher.
‘”He’s beating on the back of this truck window… I don’t know if he’s trying to break in or something. It just looks crazy. It’s a girl driving it.” ‘
But maybe to Bengal fan, this also was acceptable behavior!

  36. Dayton Flyer says: Jan 29, 2010 11:25 AM

For us who live in southern Ohio, Kentucky is like the embarrassing redneck cousin you try to avoid at the family reunion. We need to just forbid the Bengals from crossing the river. Just drive up here to Dayton if you need an airport or clubs.

  37. favres_right_tendon says: Jan 29, 2010 11:27 AM

Seriously… A 2003 Pontiac Sunfire? Isn’t that a chicks car? C’mon man at least ‘upgrade’ to a dodge Neon or something. Way to represent RayRay.

  38. HamBurghlar says: Jan 29, 2010 11:34 AM

@BengalsDouche2: All NFL criminals that have to do community service are REQUIRED to do team promotions/autographs/etc.. Try again.
Once a problem, always a problem. And a Bengal.

  39. Scott P says: Jan 29, 2010 11:57 AM

Did I just read he was driving a Pontiac Sunfire? Ok, he should be also fined by the league for conduct detrimental to the league by driving a Sunfire. C’mon MAN!

  40. RichieBugs83 says: Jan 29, 2010 12:19 PM

I know most people drive drunk at some point, but why don’t these guys hire drivers? Be a millionaire Ray, hire a driver. If not, at least get caught for DUI in something a little more rugged.

  41. i'm president charlie! says: Jan 29, 2010 1:19 PM

Ray was probably just blowing off a little steam after the Jest sent the Bengals home after one of their most successful seasons.

I believe you should check your facts and get them straight. Ask any Cincinnati resident (on either side of the river) and they will tell you that Dayton is the embarassing red neck cousin they all try to avoid.
Cinci. residents usually avoid going anywhere near Dayton…for good reason.

I wonder if they had him try to spell Maualuga backwards? Oh crap!!!
Wouldn’t having Ochocinco as teammate drive anyone to drink?
