McKinnie forces Diehl, Peters to play entire Pro Bowl

The NFL kicked Vikings left tackle Bryant McKinnie off the Pro Bowl roster on Saturday, and didn’t replace him.  Thus, Giants left tackle David Diehl and Philadelphia’s Jason Peters were forced to play more.  A lot more.

Diehl and Peters were both in for every single one of the NFC’s 62 offensive snaps on Sunday night.
Diehl wasn’t upset by his admittedly unexpected full-time role in the meaningless game.
“This is something you wanted to do when you were a kid,” the first-time Pro Bowler said.  “I’m honored to be here.  Granted I wasn’t expecting to play the whole game, but I got here doing it as a Giant, being a blue collar guy.  I’m not in the condition I was in during the football season, but when you’re called upon, you do it.”
Diehl’s attitude is refreshing, and the complete opposite of McKinnie’s.
Forced to compensate for McKinnie’s absence with no backup on the three-deep offensive tackle depth chart, Diehl and Peters are also lucky they didn’t get hurt.

They should split Mckinnie’s money between Diehl and Peters…

    Vikings suck.

McKinnie is a jackass. Another great product of human excrement ‘graduated’ from University of Miami’s, ahem, esteemed program. Everyone there must feel so proud!

    SIX MINUTES LOL

…and subsequently get the quarterback you hate the most, Tony Romo, conveniently killed in the 4th quarter…great job “PRO BOWLERS”…nice built in excuse for being a turnstyle…guess youre too dumb to remember that if you win, you get more money…

They should also split the money McKinnie would have made for playing. They did more work than the others, and deserve that extra bit of cash.

  7. Bill In DC says: Feb 1, 2010 12:42 PM

too bad they imitated turnstiles almost the entire night.

  8. GoBrowns19 says: Feb 1, 2010 12:50 PM

eh, I tried to watch it this year, but it’s still pretty stupid. The one play I saw, the LE could have nailed Aaron Rodgers and just stopped. Why even bother? Anyone can complete a pass if there’s no defense.

  9. downsouth49er says: Feb 1, 2010 12:54 PM

McKinnie is a douchebag punk for how he handled himself the past week or so…him and the rest of the Vikings players who didn’t participate should really work on not being sore losers

  10. DirtMcGirt24 says: Feb 1, 2010 12:54 PM

It wasn’t that Diehl tried to get Romo killed, it’s more he’s god awful as a tackle and had no business being in a Pro Bowl at tackle.
If Eli looks like he’s got a few screws loose, it’s not because he was born that way, it’s because Diehl has his blind side.

Whenever anything unseemly happens in the NFL, why is it almost always a Viking or Bengal behind it? Is it because the organization is corrupt or is the root cause is the team itself hides its players from the consequences as the Viking did in the Starcaps case.
Either way, any football team will have trouble getting to the Superbowl with morally bankrupt players, idiot head coaches, and team leadership that makes up excuses for their illegal behavior all in the name of winning. Need evidence? The Vikings are 0-5 in their last 5 championship games.

There was NO PASS rush lastnight. This was the easiest game either of these guys has probably ever played. They aren’t bitching, why is everybody else? They game couldnt have been a bigger joke than it was. People should be bitching that the game had the ratings it got. Now we will be stuck with an even more meaningless game for a long time to come…

Are you serious? Did you watch the defensive line pull up on almost every play? The only way they would have gotten hurt was at the buffet line.

  14. bigfog says: Feb 1, 2010 12:57 PM

If either had gotten hurt and forced to miss time during the season, the NFL should have stepped in and taken an appropriate amount out of McKinnie’s paycheck for each week missed. Seems fair.

My God, they had to play the whole game, I did not see anybody work very hard so I do not think it is a big deal. McKinnie was wrong and I’m glad they kicked him off the team and did not pay him. It is always nice to read a blog from a Packer who voices his hatred of the Vikings as if this had anything to do with the team.

  16. BigEasy says: Feb 1, 2010 1:07 PM

Considering they didn’t have to block anyone “TRYING” to get the the QB….don’t see the big deal!!

Am I the only one who confused the Pro Bowl with a walk through practice?

  18. TrueFan says: Feb 1, 2010 1:09 PM

    Good point “GoBrowns19″
They ought to not even select Defensive ends. They can’t sack the QB anyway, so why even send them.

  19. Levito says: Feb 1, 2010 1:14 PM

Diehl needs to be moved back to LG anyway

  20. Bigbluefan says: Feb 1, 2010 1:16 PM

    Another high class player
That is why the NYG toss out the trash before it starts to stink
    Tiki gone Shockey gone
    Plex gone
The team is a class act like the owners maybe that ahole Woody could learn a thing or two from his neighbors

  22. zappa says: Feb 1, 2010 1:18 PM

I fault the NFL for not adding a player to cover for Dickwinnie. Diehl and Peters needed the work anyhow, they both played awful all year.

Just announce the team as an honor and don’t play the game. It’s a waste.

THis is the summest shit a football fan can say with no facts behind it…dude shut the hell up…Bengals had 10 players arrested between 05 and 07 none in 08 1 in 09 and 1 in 10…Since then MANY teams and I say MANT TEAMS have surpassed us in terms of arrest and consistency in which they occur…GET EDUCATED! And quit tryin to leave post that will Florio and teams may post cause they think they may be funny BUT NOT ACCURATE! Ignorance is bliss…..

Give Diehl and Peters Mckinnie’s money. 10 grand a piece. That’s fair. Suspend Mckinnie next year for a game and fine him about 100 grand.

I agree. If the League is trying to make money, I think they should just make the ProBowl the featured matchup at the Hall Of Fame Game in Canton every preseason, and convert the last week of preseason to an extra week of regular season matchups…

  29. GB3Pack4 says: Feb 1, 2010 2:50 PM

He should have been cut and replaced after the first absence, when they found he’d been out drinking the night before.

  30. leatherneck says: Feb 1, 2010 2:55 PM

OK, OK, enough already! McKinnie did wrong. He should admit it, promise to do better, and then do that.

  31. slipkid says: Feb 1, 2010 3:13 PM

hell , they could have gotten a 3rd tackle out there in time for the game. what was flozell the kickboxer up to?
