In a Monday appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, Mike Vick was asked to identify where he thinks he ranks among NFL quarterbacks.
“Top 10, to be honest,” Vick said. “I’m confident in my skills.”
Still, Vick said he wouldn’t rule out a return to Philly. “I would really have to think about it,” Vick said. “I like the
coaching staff. I like the people around there. Maybe I would do it.
Who knows?”
Vick is due to receive a $1.5 million roster bonus on the fifth day of the 2010 league year. It’s widely believed that the Eagles will trade Vick before the payment comes due.

There is eleven. I dont think any one could make much of a case to replace one of the above starters for Vick. And some of the other teams that are not going to make a change at the position like the Jets, Falcons, Ravens, 49ers, Panthers, Jaguars I believe Vick is better than the current QB’s on these teams but those teams are looking to build on the youth of what they have at the position.
But on the other hand:
Buffalo, Dolphins, Browns, Chiefs, Raiders, Redskins, Bucs, Rams, Cardinals, Seahawks would be getting an upgrade at the QB position than what they currently have.
Even Vikes if Favre does not come back could be better with Vick than Sage or TJack.
So I could say top 15.
Vick can be a top 10 QB! The man doesn’t play it the way you want him too. Bottom line.. he moved chains and won games. The ONLY stat that matters is the W/L column. When he gets his chance again, judge him on that.

I would love to see Vick end up in AZ I think it would be a great fit for him, with ATL he never had a good option at WR. Vick was NEVER a Top 10 QB. Anyone who believes that either has amnesia, or is delusional. He was the best RUNNING QB in the league, but as for passing (and this IS still, and was, a passing league), he was among the worst starters in the league. JaMarcus-like arm strength does you no good when you can’t hit the broad side of a barn from 10 feet away.
Let’s not forget that Vick has left his best years behind him at Leavenworth. He needs to get a normal 9-5 job like the rest of us ham-n-eggers, then fade into oblivion. Personally, I hope he winds up penniless and living in a cardboard box under an overpass, next to Dennis Rodman, who should be flat broke about the same time Vick blows his last dime.
Vick had a 46% completion rate this year. 53.7% career. His very best passing season was just barely over 2900 yds and he posted an 81.6 rating that year. I’m real hard pressed to take vick over the majority of ampsilly’s list. This is a question of qb. not somebody who can run taking snaps. for pure passing ability I would rather have. matt leinart, Alex smith matt hassleback mark bulger vince young david garrard matt cassel trennt edwards chad henne mark sanchez matthew stafford jay cutler and tony romo. I’m sorry they all have better passing ability. I would also draft bradford, claussen, McCoy, and hell even tebow before signing vick, and everyone thinks tebow wont be a good nfl qb

It all depends on what your basis of what a top-caliber quarterback is. If your looking for the 4,000 yard passing season,and the 30 passing touchdowns, you won’t get that from him. Never have. Even in his best season,2004,he was something like the 26th ranked qb in the league. What you got,though,was a flatout playmaker who was a threat any time he had the ball in his hands. Don’t know about you guys,but the fact that Vick was the 1st quarterback EVER to go into Lambeau Field as a visiting qb and win a playoff game is pretty damn impressive. So I think Mike Vick’s wrong. He’s in the Top 15 QBs in the NFL right now. So he’s wrong; but given that there are 32 teams in the NFL, there are at least 17 teams with QBs that are worse than Vick. That makes Vick a starter somewhere next year. Watch.

He has never been a good passer at all. He’s a good running QB, no doubt, but he’s always been inaccurate in his throws. He’s never been a top 10 QB, even in his prime (unless you play Madden), so how can he be a top 10 QB after being out of football for a few years and serving as a 3rd stringer?
Anyway, some team will probably be dumb enough to trade for him, give him a big contract and ruin its mid-term future with a QB who does not throw well…
No matter where he goes, it will be interesting to watch that teams fans do flip flops on what they think about the guy.
He is in the top ten for NFL quarterbacks that have also been convicted of felonies and served time during their playing career.

No WR’s in Atlanta? Roddy White would beg to differ. JOEY HARRINGTON & CHRIS REDMAN combined for 3000+ yards with the same group and White had his first 1000 yard season as soon as ‘Top Ten’ went to prison. The dude is a less accurate Kordell Stewart. If in fact, it’s ‘all about winning’, Kordell has won more playoff games too. Just sayin’.
When Vick was at his peak with Atlanta, he might have been a top 10 RB, but he never was a top 10 QB. Of course today he is not as fast nor as accurate a passer as during his peak performance years, so his RB ranking will be lower. If he works hard, the day might come when he will be able to complete 50% of his passes (and be considered a top 100 QB), but there is no guarantee that he will ever get to that level. As a Bills fan, I am well aware that we need a much better QB, but based on his best years as a passer with Atlanta, I would rank Vick behind Ryan Fitzpatrick, Trent Edwards and Brian Brohm.

You mean the same guys that Matt Ryan has no problem being successful with? Roddy White became a star after Vick left. Peerless Price had his best season prior to playing for Vick (with Bledsoe, a guy most people criticize).

7. David Garrard (why anybody thinks Vick is better is beyond me, Garrad completes over 60%, throws less int’s and has a better rating.)

10. Kevin Kolb (hey Vick was his backup for a reason)
11. Eli Manning (some people say he had a down year but he threw 27 td’s, completed over 60% and had a 90+ rating, things Vick has NEVER accomplished)

I actually agree with some of this statement. He’s better than Edwards, Cassel, Hasselbeck. Warner is retired, Eli Manning I’d say comparable to. Palmer hasn’t done shit in 3+ years now. Never the same after his ACL.

Cutler and Flacco are debatable too. Flacco has the skills, he just needs consistency from his receivers. So yeah, its definitely possible he COULD be considered top 10. I won’t say I believe he is or isn’t. We didn’t see enough of him to make that determination. Lots of people look good in limited duty, and once the full weight is on them they become inconsistent. (See: AJ Feeley) Other people look awful in limited duty and then come in and with proper preparation light it up. (See: Matt Cassell in 08)

I laugh when people say Vick had no receivers yet when he left Roddy White became a Pro Bowler. Is that perhaps because Ryan is a more accurate passer than Vick. Mike is a scambling QB who makes a highlight reel run. That doesn’t make him a great QB. The Falcons went to the NFC championship game based on a great running game. They didn’t make it on Vick’s arm.

If vick was top 10, or top 15, or even top 25, more teams would have had interest in signing him outta prison. the fact that they didn’t means that he isn’t anywhere near as good as he thinks he is.

Vick was drafted 1st overall in 2001.
LaDainian Tomlinson was drafted 5th overall in 2001.
Look at what has happened to Tomlinson in the last couple of years. He has lost more than a step, and PFT even metioned that he could be in the same boat as Shaun Alexander soon.
What does this have to do with Vick?
Two players, the same age, who were admittedly at least among the top 4 or 5 most exciting players in 2006, have aged four years since then. Tomlinson practiced and played and Vick did whatever he did on a daily basis. Vick’s skills couldn’t be the same.
Just admit, even if Vick was as awesome as some of you seem to think he was (I never thought he was a quarterback, no accuracy and no sense), it’s impossible to say he’s even close to the top ten based on the sample size we saw in Philly this year.
Whichever team really wants to walk a fine line between a PR mess and throwing dollars and developmental time for another QB down the drain should go for Vick…

I said the same thing about the Donte Stallworth situation, 30 days for driving drunk and killing a pedestrian. Seriously? 30 days for killing a human, 2 years for killing dogs, thats the problem with society, well at least one problem, we seem to value animals more so than a human life in the court of law. He never collected the full $130 mil contract, he just entered it and he had to go to court to keep the bonus money.
Now he is $20 mil in debt after bankruptcy where the judge slashed his debt down to $20 mil.
He’s just another broke has been.
Vick has some crowd pleasing skills and is fun to watch. But he never was a top 10 QB because none of the offenses he ran ever scored more points than an average offense in the NFL.
For every sensational 15 yard run Vick makes that no other QB in the league could have dreamed of, he misses one or two simple 15 yard passes that just about every QB in the league except him could make.
That is why Vick isn’t and never was top 10. He is the best athelete at the position, even still, but when you don’t ever operate a top 15 offense in terms of scoring points how can you really be considered that good.
He made the big bucks because of a good playoff run and the excitement factor.
Vick do not care if you thinks he’s a top 10 QB. He anwsered an question and that how he feels. All the name calling and hateful things about the dogs is old news. Vick at least paid for his crimes and problems. Most of you just can not get over the fact you have no control over his career and/or the money he may make. I’m not a pet person and never will be. All I care about now is that he makes up for what he did to those dog by trying to save more of them then he hurt. So name as many QB you feel that are better, call the man names, or whatever your sorry butt feels, because it tells more about you then Vick. All I know is that only one QB will win this year.
