Richard Deitsch of SI.com reports that a Bill Cowher interview of imprisoned former Giants receiver Plaxico Burress will air during CBS’ pre-Super Bowl coverage on Sunday.
The former Steelers head coach made the trip to upstate New York’s correctional facility to tape the interview. Cowher promises that we’ll see a contrite Burress during the prerecorded segment.
Burress’ application for work release was denied last month. He can reapply in July.
Burress, convicted on felony gun charges last year, isn’t eligible for true freedom until June 6, 2011.
It was a job interview. He’ll be starting opposite Steve Smith in Carolina after next season when Fox gets fired and they hire Cowher.
Did Cowher learn how to talk? Because if he talks like he does during their pre-game show and his special segments you wont be able to understand one thing they say.
Did Cowher hide a carton of menthols up his ass? Plax could get a decent amout of money for them in the joint.

interesting…
Cower knows he’s a turd from his days in Pittsburgh…maybe just wants to rub it in a bit.
This bum is in jail while Leonard Little and Dante Stallworth roam free, SAD!

That would be some old ass starting WRs
I’m skeptical. The guy hasn’t had much time to do much except practice his contrition act. The guy is a dummy and a person doesn’t suddenly get smart behind bars.

So two WRs past their prime, both with anger issues, and no one to throw them the ball. That sounds like a plan.
Let me tell you the only reason Plax is in Jail is because the Mayor of New York has a BIG MOUTH and loves a camera on him 24/7.
The Mayor had a trial in the press.
What Plax did, carrying a loaded gun is against the law but I have a wonderful story to tell.
A police officer saw two young men walking supiciously in a residential area when he called out to stop one of the men turned and fired, the gun jammed, he ran the officer caught him.The judge released him because he was 17 and should get a second chance, so while out on probabtion the young man decided to shoot at another man in a business area, the cops caught him and he
was again released on bail.
Tell me what is wrong with the picture ??
and Plax shot himself……..
Cannoli you may not recall but Plex was with Cowher in Pitt and let him go
Plex is looking for that courage award that Convick got
Plax was a total enigma in Pittsburgh. I think in one of his first games he caught a ball for a nice game, fell down, spiked the ball….and it was picked up by the defense because he had not been touched. Then he’d make an all world play. They had to decide to either re-sign Hines Ward or give Plax and/or Randle a new contract. They made the right choice with Hines, who will retire a Steeler and be a Hall of Famer.
Burress still got off easy.
The law was 3 years for a firearm. Plaxico got less than that. Ergo, he’s above the law.
I wonder if Plax realizes now that no one was around him for him. They were around him for his money and his star power. When not even your WIFE offers up a letter of support for your work release, thats gotta sting.
considering that Cowher and Plax didn’t always get along in Pittsburgh, it should be a great interview to see.
dont see why we need a plaxico interview before the superbowl. how is he related to the colts/saints ?
I guess Tony Dungy wasn’t available for this one.
Cowher is going to sneak in some weed in his gigantic white Chiclet caps.
Why on earth would a competent, professional, pretty good human being like Bill Cowher stoop so low as to put himself at the level of this scum bag punk pacstico. buress is an ignorant punk thug. Does anyone have any set of values these days??? Anything other than money or celebrity worship???? This guy is not relevant, germane, or of value to the NFL, viewing public. Abortion for plex, flush’em.
Two idiots sitting down and speaking is not really television worthy is it? Or maybe they can share stories about how overated they both are and how one is still going to be able to steal from a franchise while the criminal probably has lost his last big payday to the man!
Remember when Steve Smith was relevant?
@ straverse
Dungy doesn’t show up until after the guy screws up. Then he pretends to rehabilitate them. He doesn’t care about them until its time to do that part and get him in the news.
Actually, if the stories were correct, Plax passed on a plea deal that would have had him serve 30 days in jail, and a lengthy parole/community service, but Plax refused because he didn’t want to go to jail at all.
Which proves that Plax is even dumber than most of us thought.
Where is he being held? Most media refer to Upstate NY as just 20 minutes North of NYC to 500 miles to the North West in Buffalo.
So where is he?
@Texasphinsfan
I don’t think you understand how the law works. Sentencing isn’t as cut and dry as you are making it out to be. Several facts dictate the actual punishment for the crime. Plax is in prison so I would say he is not above the law.
That being said I would never let him back in the league. If I was Roger Goodell I would kick out every player that was convicted of a felony. A lot less people would be getting arrested.
yeah, good luck with that Plax.

You’re absolutely right, they should ALL be in prison.

He was almost relevant again thanks to Matt Moore (who?).
As for Smith and Burress starting opposite each other, Cowher would be running Williams and Stewart 50 times a game so they would only need to run about 10 routes each game. They can suck it up.
