The league has been trying for months to find a successor to V.P. of officiating Mike Pereira. Finally, they’ve found one.
Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the new king of the zebras is Carl Johnson.
We don’t know much about Johnson, but we’ll all find out plenty more soon.
UPDATE: Johnson is a line judge, and he worked Super Bowl XLII between the Giants and the Patriots. He also has been employed in his non-football time as a sales manager; in his new role he’ll periodically be selling to the media and the fans the accuracy of disputed calls. (As Florio Jr. would say, “I see what you did there.”)
Can we go to the booth to see his previous Screw ups????
They found another puppet to say “it was a non-call” & “well you see, Rich, the flag shouldn’t have been thrown but it only cost the team the game”.
Mr. Point shaver himself
Can’t be any worse can he? Maybe new blood in the position will lead to a determination for greater results instead of the constant song and dance of “don’t blame us.”
Saints fan, I would presume. Makes the ultimate objective easier in the long run.
Hey, that’s my uncle’s name. Congrats CJ!
The worst officiated game in NFL history has got to be the Vikings-Saints game. Maybe we can get some improvement from the refs next year.
I understand shattering losses. I’m an Eagles fan for crying out loud. But Vikings fans need to understand that the officials didn’t commit a single one of the FIVE turnovers in the NFC Championship Game. Enough, already.
So, who is the President of Officiating??

You’re right the Vikings lost the game themselves. The refs all season were terrible though. it will get ugly if in the SB there is any controversial calls, especially if they go against the Saints. I don’t think their puffed up fanbase can handle it

FMWarner on the Vikings loss: “But Vikings fans need to understand that the officials didn’t commit a single one of the FIVE turnovers in the NFC Championship Game. Enough, already.”
I’m a die hard Vikings fan, and you are absolutely right. The officiating was bad, so what else is new? If they don’t shoot themselves in the foot 5 times they win by 10 no matter what the officials foul up.
I’m not a vikings fan but gotta agree with most of them. It doesn’t matter if a team committs 20 turnovers in a game as long as the game itself is tied at the end of regulation, the team that committed the turnovers managed to overcome those turnovers. What a team (in this case the vikings) couldn’t overcome was all the non calls and obviously the bad calls in OT. It’s easy to brush it off by saying the vikings turned the ball over 5 times but keep in mind, those turnovers only prevented them from dominating the scoreboard, it didn’t cause them to lose……otherwise there wouldn’t have been any OT. Don’t know what is so hard to understand about that. There is no place for terrible officiating in this day and age. The ref, Morelli is the same idiot who overturned the int. by polamalu in the colts/steelers playoff game in 2006 AND called a FG no good in 2007 game between browns and ravens on last play of game when the freakin ball went thru the uprights and hit the pole that curves down to the field and bounced back thru the uprights! Calls like these can’t just be ignored becuz it wasn’t “your team” that lost, the NFL needs full time officials period. It’s the only freakin’ major sport that doesn’t have them and we’re in the 21st century. Landry, Shula, Grant, etc. were begging for full time refs 40 yrs ago.
@ FMWARNER
You’re correct. But explain how a guy gets his shirt LITERALLY ripped off his body and yet NOT ONE official feels that is WASN”T pass interference? BTW, anytime you’re fan base kills someone because they have on a different jersey….You don’t get to comment with any credibility!
Re: “I see what you did there…”
Seems Florio Jr. keeps Mike Sr. abreast of all the new internet jargon.
Might want to put Florio Jr. on the payroll, he’s funnier than his father.

I guess you didn’t see the Pittsburgh/Seattle SB.
What ever happened to Jerry Seeman!
When the NFL changes the current sudden death OT and gets full time officials then we will know they are serious about having a sport……until then it’s just entertainment.
I hear they called him “Hot” in high school.
The worse game ever was the Steelers- Seahawks SB, for the first time ever, I actually thought a game might be fixed, now years later when Tim D comes out and says some NBA games were not really fixed but leaned on to one side, it really makes you wonder.
@mustbechris
Haha, good call, I was gonna say almost the same thing
