Gregg williams, who is this loser think he is???? He has the worst defense in football in my opinion, well not the wrose bu like the 25th ranked? the only reason hes anywhere is bc hes riding brees coatails all year long. All this team does it punch the ball out of peoples hands, thats it, they wont even have a chance against peytons attack on sunday, its hard to punch the ball out williams when ur terrible corners are getting torched, and another thing, if the games close, williams is famous for going into a prevent defense late in the game, he always got beat up on the redskins, the redskins would be up and winning and then his d would relax and let people go right down the feild, I hope and I KNOW FOR A FACT peyton will shove it right up his fat ugly old ass. Screw u williams, ur nothing, ur a joke, a bum, and if brees has an off day, your toast, your already toast, and u shot ur mouth off? wow, this isg onna be fun for the world to see ur " great defense" get torched in the fashion they should, you never should be here, favre carved you up, HELL! JASON CAMPBELL FOR THE REDSKINS THE WORST QB IN THE NFL SCORED 30 PTS ON U THIS YEAR!!!! YOUR A BUM.!!!

You can't hit the QB! What an outrage!
....oh wait a minute. This is tackle football.
Oh yeah, forget that. You are allowed to hit the QB.
I guess by the amount of complaining, a lot of "fans" would be in favor of the league becoming 2 hand touch.

Maybe all you whiners about the Saints D taking cheap shots and hitting the QB late should just start watching table tennis or bowling!! Last I heard football was a contact sport! I Guess none of you girls ever played the game.........or any sport for that matter. Guess y'all don't realize that it's pretty difficult to stop your momentum when you're going full speed at the QB. Do you think the D says "OMG, the QB released the ball, I think I'll stop and not hit him"? Give me a break......go watch a non-contact sport. You wouldn't be crying if your team where playing in the SB.

Ray Nitchske, Jack Lambert, Dick Butkus, Mike Singletary, Reggie White, LT (the real one), Sam Huff, Willie Lanier, Jack Ham. Do ya think those guys ever gave anyone a"hit to remember". I think this is still the NFL and if either defense gets near the QB I would expect them to level him as long as it's legal. DC's having been teaching this for years. Should be a good game.

"What Williams said that crossed the line was that he doesn't want his defense to worry about getting penalites for delivering "remember me shots" on the QB and, if they do get penalties, at least he hopes the QB can't return to the game."
He only said the first part. Perfectly legitimate strategy. Every team in the NFL, every team in college, and every team all the way down to tiny tots does it. They try to hit the quarterback. Sometimes, they get there after the ball is thrown. They can't always see that the ball is out and can't always slow down.
He did not say the second part. In fact, he went out of his way not to say the second part. He acknowledged that the interviewer wanted him to say the second part but he did not say it.

MaybeNextYear you are absolutely wrong in your context and your implication of his words.
Listen to the interview - a lot less offensive when heard in context. He also said, "...you would want me to say that he wouldn't get up and play."

But while I am at it - what are your thoughts on Brett Favre's low hit (fined $10k) for hitting Eugene Wilson low (injured knee) in a preseason game?

Coaches used to put real bounties on opposing QBs for their defensive players. A DC says in an interview that his team intends to hit the QB hard and often and there are people that consider this news?
Are there any football fans from the 20th century on this blog? Imagine trying to explain your outrage over this to a man like Jack Lambert. I would feel ashamed to be upset over this.

MaybeNextYear: "...if they do get penalties, at least he hopes the QB can't return to the game."
Not true.
What Williams said is that in spite of his explaining the type of play he expects of his D - - in spite of continuing to be professional - - the only thing that the media wants to hear him say is that he hopes his D injures the QB. "And the only thing you’d LIKE FOR ME to say is..."
Honestly. Read the damn quote. But first, remove your head from your posterior.
Grammar aren't hard.

You guys are missing the point. It's not about a team wanting to take out the QB, every team's aim is to take out the QB. Ask Bobby McCray when he blindsided Warner because he had the "shot"...oh wait, McCray plays for the Saints!
No the point is that Williams felt compelled to make this public in order to feed his overinflated, arrogant ego and make this all about him. "Oh look at me, I'm the one who can give the order to take out Peyton... me, me, me, me."
This now has become a situation that is ready to explode and possibly become a huge distraction to the Saints. This is going to be interesting to watch, because I believe that Sean Payton's passive aggressive actions are going to have a negative impact on Williams.

All that talk did was cost the Saints 30 yards and two first downs in late hit calls
What an ass saw a saint on TV say he was going do what he could to take a shot or two at Payton the Refs are going to have the flag out anytime Payton is passing
You Saints are so FU that you run your mouths now your going to pay for the talk
Two years ago the Giants kicked Brady all over the place and got away with it why because no one opened there pie hole a week before promising the hurt

How can a so called finesse team turn into a dirty team in two games? Football is a contact sport and QBs are not excluded. This is what every Defensive Coaches says in the locker room before the game. Greg Williams just had the guts enough to say it in an interview.
Of course it's being blown out of proportion - by second-rate "reporters" in order to generate hits on their blogs.
Notice that from most professional sports reporters and from their peers (this would include future Hall of Fame and recently retired QB Kurt Warner), both of these teams represent the class of the NFL. They aren't classless, dirty, or any other derogatory adjective being used by a handful of whiners and sore losers with multiple accounts on the interwebs.
We're finally going to see the best two teams in the NFL play each other for the championship, and I think it's going to be a great one.

Knowing that the Saints are intentionally trying to hurt Peyton Manning makes me dislike them.
This is being blown out of proportion. All Williams said that when the defense got to Manning and hit, make it a hit he would remember. He said nothing about being dirty while doing it.

Seeryer says:

The only guy in the NFL that respects Greg Williams skills more than Greg Williams it has to be his douche bag son Blake. Seriously, when those two were in Jacksonville, Gregg couldn't take a shit without Blake asking if could wipe his ass. But then again, Blake would not be working in the NFL if his Dad wasn't such a douche himself. Gregg Williams is still the most overated defensive mind in the NFL. In what way was Greg Williams responsible for any turnover MIN made last week? I can add luckiest to most overated I guess now. His D was sliced for almost 500 yards.

What's the big deal?...is Peyton so great that he's "untouchable?' I am with Gregg...he's a defensive coordinator! Knock the QB on his butt every "legal chance" there is!....it's the way the game should be played! Playing defense is an attitude and wanting the offensive player to "remember" the hit you gave him is a great way to make him hurry his throw or interrupt his timing or even fumble......whateva! Peyton is a grown man and can handle it....if Peyton wants to be the best, he has the take the hits with the best! Who Dat?

Really.....Payton Manning needs chalk board motivation. I guess the Lombardi trophy, SB ring and a place in history don't really cut it for Manning????
At the end of the day, this game will be decided on the field not in front of a microphone.
