Since the Colts and Saints aren’t giving us much to discuss, today’s PFT Daily focuses on one of the 30 teams not in Miami.
Specifically, the Eagles.
Last night, Silva (the fact that we’ve dropped his first name means he has now officially been accepted into the tribe) saw through the smoke regarding the report that the Eagles plan to keep Mike Vick. But there’s another factor to consider apart from the leverage that the Eagles might be able to generate.
For more, you’ve got to give us a couple minutes of the time you’re currently stealing from your employer.
vick is and always be a SCUMBAG!!!
“so that’s the famous dryer?”
i guess those guys play hockey? i suppose Gretsky isn’t still around?
Clueless, that is the first thing that comes to mind when I hear you talk. Second thing is, useless, that being the time I spend listening to you talk. Florio, you wouldn’t know a real story if it jumps up and bites you in the sack……..but keep up the good work. Someday you might actually come close to getting something right, maybe!!!
Dear Mike,
Most companies don’t allow video streaming. It would please us all if you’d do away with the PFT segments and just write freakin articles.
Thank you
That doesn’t make any sense. So the Eagles are punishing Vick because he said that he’s a Top 10 quarterback in the NFL? They’re putting him in his place?
Vick belongs to the Eagles. Vick cannot legally dictate to the Eagles where he wants to go because he doesn’t have a “No-Trade” clause in his contract. If the Raiders, Rams, Bills, or even the Falcons came up and made an offer for Vick, Vick has to go. So the premise doesn’t make any sense.
Here’s what makes more sense: Vick is turning the corner and showing GMs that he’s ready to lead and is confident in his skills. All that does is maximizes his trade value because no one wants to pay him money to be a guy who has very little confidence in his skills. He can’t keep walking in a room with his hat in his hands, crying and thanking God for the opportunity.
If Vick is going to play quarterback in the NFL, Vick will someday have to stop talking and apologizing for fighting dogs. Someday, he’s going to have to be just an NFL player. And by saying that he’s in the Top 10 is just one step. Next, he have to start a game. Then, he have to win. And if he wins, he’ll be OK. But if he doesn’t win, he won’t be in the NFL long anyway.
The bills will not give up a 3rd rd pick for vick….At most each team whether its the bills or the rams a 5th rd pick, by saying the past 2 months that he will be traded and coming out this week saying oh we are not going to trade him but we will listen to what you have to offer is bullshit..They just want to get a pick out of him before they have to pay him $1.5 mil, if anything they will cut him and he will get to chose where he wants to go.
Eh, no, just type it. I’m not watching the crummy video.
Que for chappy and vox comments
(Two stealth Eagles fans if there ever were any)
does this guy just want his face to be seen? what a lazy bum, nobody cares what u look like, should’ve typed this crap out…
this article is not deaf friendly
Story makes zero sense. Why would the Eagles want to “put vick in his place” ???
“Vick is turning the corner and showing GMs that he’s ready to lead and is confident in his skills.”
No, he’s showing that just as he’s always been, he’s a self-important, selfish diva who always places himself ahead of the well-being of the team. A guy who calls himself a top-10 QB after a feeble year of limited play and 2 years off from the game before that isn’t confident–he’s delusional.
It doesn’t matter what Vick says. If he was actually an elite QB, the Eagles would have used him more. What we saw in an entire season was very infrequent use on stunt plays. Plays which only worked because he wasn’t the starting QB. The rest of the league already has the message it needs: Vick isn’t much help to your team.
I think the Rams or Bills would be insane to pick him up. He’d be expensive in the short term, not good enough to get their teams over the hump, and whatever fading ability he has left will quickly vanish. Both of those teams will be well-placed to get a much better and cheaper young QB in the first few rounds of the draft, while spending the big money plugging holes in the less glamorous parts of their lineups.
The Eagles have lots of talent in all parts of their team, and superstars in some places. And they lost in the first round of the playoffs. If a team that playoff-ready can’t win with Vick, what makes mediocre teams think they can?
@Tian
That type of “confidence” doesn’t boost your value. For example TO spent last year in Buffalo.
Florio, I notice you took off your name tag, you look better without it but then how will NFL players and other members of the media know who you are?
The Eagles need to start Kolb, period. He’s shown he’s capable of big things in only two starts, its time to throw the kid in the fire.
On a completely different not, Mike is starting to look kinda old. I’ve been a multi-daily PFTer for years, and never noticed how pale and line-drawn Mike has become until now. All that time sitting next to Bricatto (sp? honestly who cares) has made him look good.
To top it all off, he doesn’t even know Silva’s fist name, as evidenced here:
“Last night, Silva (the fact that we’ve dropped his first name means he has now officially been accepted into the tribe)”
To be fair, I don’t know it either…
Tian, you’re absolutely correct. Mike Florio is such a girl. He is letting his emotional biases against Vick get in the way of his reporting. Thus, the remark about “some would say you were never a top 10 QB…” That was all Florio’s hate spewing out.
Vick is actually doing the “right” thing for his career, showing that he is confident and is now there and ready for a team that is looking for a starting QB. Good job, Vick. More power to ya. Don’t let the Florio hate bother you. You make more money than Florio anyways. LOL.
NastyChaps + VoxInfantia + Liberace = Florio.
>>>Most companies don’t allow video streaming. It would please us all if you’d do away with the PFT segments and just write freakin articles.
Don’t quite get the headline. There is no issue about Vick needing to be put in his place. That is just some speculation, given the scenario that you put out there. No basis in fact or even reality. Let’s just wait to see how things pan out. One this is for sure, Vick assumes two things, though, that he will NOT be in Philly next year and, that he WILL be starting someplace, seemingly without even earning the shot. Man, he showed nothing in Philly this year, so it’s confusing on what basis he is making his assumptions.
Agree with everyone else that said it. Please listen to our calls for NO VIDEO, or at least write the article for those that don’t want to or can’t watch. Thanks.
TIAN -
Didn’t make sense to me either, but I guess the gist is that this is a shot over his bow as the Eagle continue to work the phone.
The Eagles do not want to hear him try to veto a trade, or mouth off about not wanting to go to some place like OAK, STL, or TB.
He has to accept whatever team the Eagles get the best offer from – or he could face another year of riding the pine as a backup in Philly.
That made sense to me on some level, although not sure what leads them to believe that Vick would try and engineer a trade to a specific destination of his preference with an ill-timed comment.
If the Eagles get offered a 3rd from one team and a 5th from another, they’re gonna take the third regardless. Vick has no say whatsoever. Are you foreal??????
I had more to say, but I didn’t think I should put more thought into a comment than florio put into making that useless video. Damn it, can I have my 1 min and 47 seconds back?
Vick has a year of out of prison football. A lot of teams need QB’s, especially one that may either be good, or exciting, or can pack seats. It only takes a couple of teams to make it an auction. Vick doesn’t really have a say. Time for the Eagles to cash in on giving him a foot in the door.
Both Vick and the 0-3agles are trying to build his trade value. No real surprise at all the comments going on, just surprised Patrick had him on his show.
Things will get louder and more frequent as his roster bonus deadline nears.
Vick should be given the starting role next year here in Philly. I believe he still has it.
