Antonio Bryant says his "film don't lie"

On Wednesday, impending free agent receiver Antonio Bryant discussed his prospects on the open market in an interview with JoeBucsFan.com.

Bryant says he intends to avoid using the media as leverage in contract talks and is confident in his abilities.
“I’m like, look at my numbers, my opportunities, and my film,” he said.  ”Film don’t lie.”
Bryant went on to indicate that the Bucs’ preparation took a turn for the worst when head coach Jon Gruden was fired and replaced by Raheem Morris.
“I signed that paper with Gruden in 2008, and we were together going over plays within a week,” Bryant said.  ”Play after play.  The level of preparation, we, the whole team were rolling when we got to camp.  This year it wasn’t like that.”
Bryant also says he was “disgusted” that observers questioned his commitment to the team when battling injuries, and that he went out of his way to “put out there” veteran tips for rookie Sammie Stroughter.
Asked if the Bucs have made him an offer, Bryant replied “As far as I know my agent’s tried to contact [Bucs G.M.] Mark Dominik, told him maybe about combine time we’ll talk.  I don’t know.  It is what it is right now.”

Maybe Bill Parcells will sign him so he can throw another sweatshirt in Bill’s face.

Once a turd, always a turd.

  5. JoeSixPack says: Feb 4, 2010 11:50 AM

Bryant ended by reiterating that his “film don’t lie. I really feel that way. The film shows what I am.”
Coincidentally, at that very same moment Bryant uttered those words, former Presidential candidate John Edwards was saying exactly the same thing.

What an A$$HOLE! He made top 5 money last year when he’s not even a top15 talent when healthy. On a 3-13 team.
if the Bill Parcells incident didn’t show his character, hopefully this will.
    Your losing yourself man A$$HOLE!

I may agree with most of what Antonio is saying.
It seemed all season that the best players on offense were not being used. Earnest Graham and others. just didnt look prepaired in 14 out of 16 games. Looked more like confusion than preperation.

So, if the fild don’t lie, what is it saying about him? Perhaps he should be making the argument that the film don’t show everything. But, then again, if he’d studied more film (like his own), he might know what the film is saying about him…

Tampa Bay will simply replace Bryant with another Bryant, Dez Bryant that is.
Sorry buddy, but the combine is when they will call you and advise you to clean our your locker because they are no longer interested.

Raheem Morris is a crappy coach. Sorry but I agree that you cannot command respect in a locker room if some of the vets are older than you.

    “Film don’t lie”
Stats don’t lie either: 8 seasons, 372 receptions.
Very average…don’t hold your breath waiting for a big contract.

    @ sethb22
You cant be angry at what a guy make when they get the franchise tag slapped on them
On topic, I think the most intresting thing in this ariticle was when Bryant said “I signed that paper with Gruden in 2008, and we were together going over plays within a week,” Bryant said. “Play after play. The level of preparation, we, the whole team were rolling when we got to camp. This year it wasn’t like that.” (quite frankly I cant believe that didnt get its own article on this website) Those comments by Bryant confirm what we all know and that is that Raheem Morris aka Radio is a horrible coach and should of never been hired (he was about as underqualified to become HC as Obama was to become President). How many other instances have you seen a DB coach go to DC then HC in one offseason? I’m just glad some players are finally starting to speak out on Morris.

I think Bryant is getting a raw deal here. He played admirably considering he was getting his knee drained twice a week for most of the season. Towards the end of the year, he even showed some burst.
He may have been a bit of a turd in the past, but he’s definitely an asset. Surely, I don’t see him worth long-term millions as a WR1 but he would definitely be effective on a team that needs a second guy like Houston, Detroit, Kansas City, Atlanta, Baltimore, Cleveland, Jacksonville…the list is lengthy enough.

I would be VERY shocked if the Fins took Dez Bryant at #12.
Now, if they wanted him and they could trade down and pick up another pick and still get him, that would be a more plausible scenario.

    Bryant won’t last until 12…guaranteed

Tim – you’re qualified – as a blithering DUMBA$$! Another sour grapes poster that still thinks Chucky is coaching the team and young Grorgie Bush is still president – not the case, get over it, they’re not coming back.
Regarding the presidency – when George Bush was fradulantly elected in 2000, his only qualifications were a daddy who was a former prez, a govenorship in Texas bought by Bush money and previous owner of an unsuccessful MLB team. Not to mention his less than stellar “buy my way out of it” service in the National Guard.
Regarding Bryant – no doubt the guy had the numbers when he played every week in 2008. Not the case in 2009 – when, after he got his money, Bryant had knee surgury and rode the pine all year nursing it. He should play for free next year because he didn’t show up this year.

I was waiting for the Obama comparison…one thing is for sure. Not unlike Obama the abject FAILURE of the previous administration is glaringly similar and the lack of emotional intelligence of sycophant doesn’t have the intellectual capacity to see the crap he has to work with in order to succeed.
Gruden’s notorious petulance can only be compared to the incompetence of the little man with daddy issues that used this country to promote his own insecurities….ppppffftttt *wave off

  20. kappa08 says: Feb 5, 2010 3:54 PM

I would rather have another 3-13 season than have this scumbag on this team….

  21. Tim says: Feb 6, 2010 2:42 PM

Wasnt trying to get into a political debate about Obama or Bush (both of whom I have my own problems with) but Pierr588 and Kappa08 do you truly believe Raheem Morris was a good hire?! Do you think he was qualified at this point in his career to become head coach?!

  22. kappa08 says: Feb 8, 2010 10:22 AM

Tim….yes i do and let allow me to explain.
This team was getting “blown up” regardless who was going to lead.
Do you think a more cynical “experienced” coach could handle that…see Lou Pinella/Rays compared to Joe Madden.
This team needed a positive person and face to run that team.
If there is blame. Blame Dominick. He hired those 2 very bad assistant coaches. HE tossed Brooks that at first I thought wasn’t a bad idea. But have since rebuked my thoughts knowing they needed “bridge” to the future and he could have done that.
And finally it’s his draft staff that in my opinion is the worst in football.
To a MAN when Gruden was here all you heard on the 4 player shows a night of how Raheem was a star in the making. Was is too soon, of course. Considering he had NO tools to win with. BUT that team played VERY hard for him and were as competitive as they possibly could be considering their lack of talent…
