Lance Moore is ready to roll

Saints receiver Lance Moore is getting healthy at the right time.

“It’s been a long road to get here,” an excited Moore told me Thursday morning. “It’s been a long season personally with me being injured most of the year. Just to have the opportunity to get back and be healthy at the right time is a blessing.”

Moore was New Orleans’ leading receiver in 2008, but caught only 14 passes in the regular season -- three in the playoffs -- because of hamstring and ankle problems. When he’s right, Moore is a guy Drew Brees loves to look to on third downs. He’s like a poor man’s Steve Smith. (Of the Giants.)

“I feel great. This is definitely the best I’ve felt since the beginning of the season,” Moore said. “I’m definitely excited about the gameplan.”

If there is a weakness to the Colts pass defense, it’s that you can sometimes make plays over the middle against them. Jeremy Shockey, Marques Colston, and possibly a healthy Moore will test the Colts up the seams.
