Some things never change. This was eerily similar to the Pack vs. Giants NFC Championship game. Mr. Ego could’ve run and slid, or dumped a short pass to #87 on the right sideline, setting up a very makeable FG by the most prolific scorer in Green Bay Packers history. Nope, can’t have that! Instead, Mr. Ego throws a pass into coverage to his “go-to” guy, across his body and on the wrong foot.
Please come back, Brent! Defenses from the NFC North and West, AFC East, and Dallas and New Orleans would LOVE to see you again! Then the Queens fans can get a bigger taste of Packer fans’ pain.

First off, this is one of the classiest things I’ve seen NFL fans do in a LONG time. It is one thing to go to games and cheer loud. But MN dominated ratings percentages on TV this year and now their fans went out on their own and paid for a billboard spot down in Hattisburg Mississippi. You have to hand it to Vikes fans, some of the best out there.
It is so easy to tell who doesn’t know squat about football on these boards. They throw in posts like Favre blew the game with his INT. News flash, if he throws it incomplete we are going to overtime. News flash 2, failing to take the lead in a tie game during a 2 minute drill doesn’t automatically mean you lose. The referees still had to give New Orleans the game in OT which Favre wasn’t really a part of.

Who knew so many PFT posters were so well connected or are “NFL Insiders”.
Cowboy22 stated: “letting him go home during the season on a regular basis”. Cowboy must be working in Viking upper management to have such knowledge, unless of course when referring to “home” he means Favre’s residence in Eden Prarie. Although if that’s the case I’m quite sure they let all of the players leave the facility at the end of the day so they can go “home”.

Finally, based on his comment, it is apparent JimmySmith is actually the Vikings Offensive Coordinator: “Favre changed half of the play calls sent into the huddle.” Jimmy, I’m just surprised you could find so much time to post all of your comments during the season. I guess it is true Favre makes an OCs job that much easier.
We are all that much more informed because of your insights.

You forgot one. Favre lead the league this year in TD to Int ratio. That’s actually a very big catagory which gives a very good indication of ones performance throughout the year. I’m just saying…

By the way, where were all the complaints when Favre completed the same pass the week before against the Cowboys? I didn’t like it then anymore than the one against the Saints, but I don’t recall the outcry when it worked.

They say Favre’s INTs didn’t give the Saints points while they didn’t give them points. He didn’t give the Vikings any points as a matter of fact all he had to do was to keep them in FG RANGE to atleasst have a chance I don’t recall the Vikings having ANY chance of kicking the game winning FG while the Siants have the ball.

If the record temperature is 105, does that mean it is impossible for the temp to reach 110? No, just because it hasn’t happened yet, doesn’t mean it can’t. Using your logic, is seems you would you have said 105 was not possible before it happened.
I would take a 5% chance for the Super Bowl over a 0% chance any day. (And this is all assuming of course, that the only outcomes of that play were an INT or an incompletion, which certainly is not the case.)
Favre is not the reason they lost the game, but he certainly was the reason they didn’t even get to attempt a game winner.

Yeah i’m jealous of that empty trophy case in Minnesota. I’d gladly trade my team’s 6 Super Bowl trophies so I could be a Vikings fan and listen to ESPN hype one guy on my team all year only to watch him choke it all away like he’s done most of his career. I know for a fact that my only prediction when Favre first signed with the Vikings was simply, “This is not going to end well”. Period.
That fact that I was right has nothing to do with me seeing the future, no, it has to do with Favre’s playoff history. Go look it up and you’ll see that he has chocked away every opportunity since 2001. At the time I said it was a match made in heaven, a QB that chokes playing for a franchise that always choked. Sure enough, NFC championship game, a FG away from the Superbowl in a game the Vikings dominated on the stat sheet and what does Farve do?

And to answer your question, no. I would not say the “range” is 8-105. I would say there’s no such thing as a range of temperatures for a given day. There’s a record high and a record low. But records are made to be broken. To suggest there’s a range of temperatures is to imply that nothing outside of the range is possible.

As far as the poster talking about Favre’s turnovers, not one person, including Peterson, disputes that the fumble at the end of the half as they were about to score a TD was 100% Adrian’s fault. Sorry if that doesn’t jive with your Favre hatred.

Do you realize Sebastian Janikowski made a 61 yard field goal this season? Do you know what his previous long was?
I’ll give you a hint: it was 4 yards shorter than 61. I’ll pause so you can get a calculator….. OK, so Janikowski attempted a field goal you’d say was not in the same zip code as “his range.” And he hit it! Imagine that!
Bottom line: anyone who wants to downplay the importance of Favre’s interception is deluded. 50 yards, 54 yards, 57 yards. All of them would’ve given the Vikings a chance to win. But Favre waved his magical interception wand and that went away.

That is a good point, but one issue…..the career long FGs he hit from 54…..were they just BARELY above the bar, or did they go through with a couple feet to spare? Consider it.
