Wow.. ignorant. Most people who haven’t been to the gulf coast to see what happened have no clue of the scale of the damage. It’s not something that you just fix real quick. It will take a generation to rebuild and it will never be the same.
Also, N.O. did not get a direct hit. They thought it would, but it moved a little east. A little town in Mississippi got a direct hit and every single home there was seriously damaged or destroyed.
If you evacuate too soon and a storm turns, which they often do, you can evacuate right into it. That’s what happened with Houston for Rita. They evacuated, and the storm turned and made landfall to the east. Right where tons of people had evacuated to, so they all had to be evacuated again, along with the locals.
You seriously think everyone wasted the emergency cash they got? Most of the people I know were trying to figure out how to make it last while they were out of work and out of their houses. Two grand doesn’t really go that far when you don’t have anything and don’t know when you’ll get back to work.

Hey Period Boy, there may twice as many registered Dems but that is only because all the old fart Dems that registered as such way back when the Dem party was the party of racists (instead of now, where it is the Repub party that is the party of racists) are just too lazy to go and change their party affiliation. Most Dems in Louisiana vote Repub as a matter of principle, regardless of their “official” party status. BTW, gubmint cheese day is Tuesday in your state as well as the rest of the states. Try and seperate the hatred of Saints fans from the rest of the people there, as there are fans of many other teams (mostly Cowboys fans, to be honest) there.

All this posting about Katrina is very telling. The single event that showed the inability of the Bush administration to govern. Really sticks in your craw, does it? Like a Brett Farve season ending playoff “I can’t believe what I just saw” interception! Who would have thought in 2005 the Saints would have a chance to win the Super Bowl five years after Katrina, while “W” goes down as the worst American President of the 20th century. Me, for one.

It was Black and Gold Day and the students had the choice to wear black and gold or their school uniforms, period, the end, and nothing more. So basically he wasn’t following the rules set for that day.
As far as Katrina is concerned, half of you turd burglars have never experienced a hurricane, and hopefully you never will. There are areas outside of New Orleans that have never flooded, that did flood. Several thousands lost everything they owned and while they rebuilt, the Saints were a good distraction for them from the stress.

As for school colors, crime in schools was running rampant down here in the urban areas. Gang colors and assaults over sneakers were the kind of thing that brought about the implementation of uniforms. The idea behind uniforms is to remove individualism. See Japanese schools, catholic schools, the NFL, business attire restrictions, etc… for other examples of this. This kid was rocking the boat ala Ochocinco, and was disciplined accordingly. No big deal.
Oh and by the way. If ANY of you Colts fans want to talk about how backwards the folks of Louisiana are, just remember Payton Manning, Joseph Addai, Reggie Wayne, and Matt Stover are all from Louisiana.
When your #1 quarterback, #1 running back, #1 receiver and #1 Kicker are all from the state that you’re feebly trying to attack maybe you should think twice before flaming.

In this pansy PC world we now live in, I am shocked if the principle doesn’t get fired. Maybe he should for being a pin head (wanted to work that one in).
I don’t actually see the big deal here. So what if he wore the opposing team. Mature individuals would see it as a friendly rivalry. However, they probably just look at it as “how dare you!”. I went to school in Green Bay Packer country. Our school colors were also Green and Gold. We had a kid wear a bears jersey to school and another wear vikings. Nobody cared. They were from Chicago and Minneapolis originally. They were teased a bit, but all in good fun.
Message to the principle and school, “Grow up!” If you can’t tolerate differences, move to another country yourself. Jerks.

I am sick of hearing about how N.O. is trying to get past KATRINA and how bad off they still are and they need to win this SB to uplift them. How many years has it been? Other cities have been thru weather events just as bad, if not worse. Half of them do not even live there anymore. The other half aren’t doing too bad or they could not afford those expensive tickets every week and especially the cost of the S.B. tickets. The very highest nosebleed seats are 1100.00 apeice. As for not being able to tell where a hurricane can’t come in at, they were told for a week that N.O. would get a direct hit and they all waited till the last second to evacuate. They blamed the mayor for the way it turned out and then VOTED him back in. REAL BRIGHT! When they got the cash checking cards they all spent it on t.v.s. and crap they did not need. PLEASE espn. and every body else, stop talking about how bad off they are. I should be so bad off.

The school was within their rights if they relaxed a dress code. If the kid didn’t want to wear saints colors he could have worn his uniform. He chose to break the rules. If it is as a protest, that’s fine too, a very American thing to do. Now he should accept his punishment and we all go about our business. Having your record expunged is not something you should expect if you’ve committed and act of civil disobedience.
