Pennington would entertain return to Jets

Impending free agent quarterback Chad Pennington told the New York Daily News that while it “would be tough” to return to the Jets in 2010, he’d be remiss not to entertain the idea if approached by G.M. Mike Tannenbaum.

I’d be crazy not to be interested,” Pennington said.  ”Once you think you’re too big where you can’t entertain every opportunity, you’d better be careful you’ll be looking from the outside in.  I never rule anything out.  Absolutely.”
Pennington, of course, was released by the Jets just after Tannenbaum acquired Brett Favre from the Packers prior to the 2008 season.
The Jets do plan to tender a contract to restricted free agent and incumbent backup Kellen Clemens, but it’s likely that Pennington — even at age 34 and coming off his third throwing-shoulder surgery — would be an upgrade in the backup role behind Mark Sanchez.
The selfless Pennington would also theoretically be a good mentor for the Jets’ rising second-year passer and presumably come on the cheap.

The more I read about Pennington the more I’m convinced he’s a Freemason, lol.

    “The selfish Pennington “…
    ………………………………………………
I’m sure it will be pointed out in every post…but I admire this guy’s attitude enough to make sure
I am sure/think/hope you mean selfless

Perfect role for CP. Gets those coaching chops ready for when he makes the jump.

Chad Pennington is straight up classy and not to mention as smart as a QB gets. The Jets should bring him back it would help Sanchez grow.

Doesn’t sound too eager. Also, from earlier reports, sounds like he’d prefer the Miami backup gig. I would think he’ll be wearing a Cardinals uni next season, though.

For some reason, I think CP is a little too classy for Ryan

WTF PENNY?? You just alienated like 75% of your Dolphin Fans.

Deeply respect Chad, but going back to the Jets would be a very poor move. They are the ones that treated him so poorly a little over a year ago when he left!
At this point I think Chad’s just posturing himself for anything since he’s a FA.
I would prefer him to return to the Dolphins, but if they don’t offer him anything, there’s little that can be done obviously.

They better get Pennington, Kerry Collins or somebody. Chico seems to be a little brittle.
Maybe the jets can pry Vick loose from the Eagles.

This guy is a class act and we would take him back in a minute as a backup / QB Coach in waiting.
Tell me what QB gives back millions so his BIG
MOUTH RECEIVER (COLES) CAN GET MORE MONEY TO SHUT UP.
Pure class, I will be very surprised if Parcells let’s him go anywhere, he drafted him.

I’ve never understood why this guy seems to get so much pub.
    Zona seems more logical.
I hate those “rule-out” questions. What little nosy-rat reporter came up with that one anyway?
So, now the canned answer is “I can’t rule anything out at this time.”
I would love it if some a-hole would respond:
“Is wearing women’s underwear a part of your turn-on? Can you rule that out?”

He hasn’t been mentioned in the news at all since his season-ending injury back in September/October timeframe. These reports are because he’s arguably the best free agent QB on the market right now.
Apologies for all the Pennington stories I guess.

If Pennington goes back to the Jests….he’s immediately the best QB on the roster. It would be fun to watch them try and balance not upsetting the perception that they have a future star at QB (they don’t) while keeping the superior player on the bench.

Pennington to Buffalo to help us develop our next pos QB

But he will fit right in with the drunken, spitting dolphin fans?
    That makes sense.

Class Act. Tough to say since he was once a Jet.

NY is Pennys last option. Everyone is looking way to far into this. Chad wants to stay in Miami even if it is as Chad Hennes backup. Which it will be. Im sure if he had no other options he would go to NY. Noone wants to be out of a job.

That would be awesome! It’s a different head coach since Chad left.
Sanchez would have a great mentor, Jets fans will be happy to have Chad back, and if Sanchez struggles, Chad can go in w/o any worries.
    Good stuff
…please, get rid of Kellen Clemens
