Reggie Bush accused of failing to make good on scholarship promise

First, it was “Scott’s Tots.”  Now, it’s apparently . . . “Bush’s Brats”?

In yet another example of how life often imitates art (if, you know, a sitcom can be regarded as “art”), Saints running back Reggie Bush has been accused of failing to deliver on a commitment to provide $10,000 college scholarships to two San Diego youths who attended Bush’s high school.

The difference is that, unlike Michael Scott, Reggie really is a millionaire.

According to 10news.com, Bush promised the scholarships to Brandon Fountain and Matt Cobb of Helix High in March 2007.  After receiving $2,500 each for their freshman years of college, they have gotten no additional money.

Jerry Michaels, the program’s trustee, told 10news.com that “Bush’s people” failed to follow through on a promise to provide additional money to fund the program.

The real question is whether the kids will receive laptop batteries instead.

And to think, the NFL fixed the NFCC game so these crooks could get in. How much longer are we supposed to feel sorry for New Orleans?

In a Nation wide study of all cities of NFL teams,it appears that the Green Bay Packers fans are well below the mental retardation in IQ tests. They also scored very low in human relations and reasoning tests.Further more tests show addiction to abnormal sexuality with farm animals and pets alike.
Included in the study for the city of Green Bay were JimmySmith, Bob_Nelson and Vox.
Does anyone notice when you take a shit that it looks and smells better then a Packer fan?

See, what you don’t realize is that he took a page out of Donte Whitner’s playbook…..he offered up scholarships, it’s just, you had to guess the exact final score of every Saints game for the entire season including the playoffs (and knowing who they would play).
It’s their fault for not winning.

Well, this is one more situation where Bush’s morals are called into question. What is it with that last name and immorality? For all the bandwagon fans rooting for the Saints maybe stories like this will remind you of the team that deserves a little more accolade in Indianapolis. Check out Peyton’s work with the Indianapolis Children’s Hospital.

If I remember correctly, The guy pissed away $10,000.00 in 2006 because he wanted to wear a different shoe in a friggen pre-season game, and $5,000.00 for a taunting gesture during the NFC Championship game against the Bears on that long return for a TD.
    Come on Reggie… really?

We all know he has enough money left from his USC salary to pay for whats missing from these kids dreams of attending the University of Phoenix with Larry Fitzgerald……
But even laptop batteries would be a plus, if your grades are good enough…… you’ll get a scholarship……. these kids “could” just be looking for a hand out…….. surprising in LA………..

Reggie liked his “scholarship money” when he was in college, whether it was on the table or under the table but now he stiffs two college kids……….the saint’s team and players have taken quite the image hit the past couple of weeks, must be time to remind us all about katrina again.

  19. bearsrule says: Feb 5, 2010 11:38 PM

These guys don’t wipe their rear ends without their agents telling them to. Bush probably doesn’t have the slightest idea about this. It maybe his money, but he pays somebody else to write the checks. I’m not saying it’s right or not his fault. Ultimately, if he made the promise, he is responsible.

hopefully this doesn’t set Reggie back the way the cheating in the Super Bowl scandal set back the Patriots right before they lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl a couple of years back.

Don’t blame Reggie. How is he supposed to know how much school costs? USC picked up his tuition and made sure his pockets were filled with cash the whole time he was there. He probably figured the $2,500 was enough to cover it.

Bottom line: was this scholarship promised in writing? If so, then Bush is screwed. If not, then the kids are screwed. They can file nuisance lawsuits but a verbal contract isn’t worth the paper its printed on.

  40. bluestree says: Feb 6, 2010 8:42 AM

How can it be that guys who spend so much of their money on agents and handlers can be made to look like such clowns? For allowing this to happen Reggie’s agent should be sued for malpractice. He should have taken the fifteen thousand out of his end and billed Reggie for it if need be, but right before the biggest game of his caeer, this hits the news. That hurts Reggie’s marketability. The reason guys sight for paying a huge percentage to an agent as opposed to just using a lawyer is so things ar “taken care of”. I’m not a big Bush fan but this is ridiculous.

I assume you are also pissed off at 10tv for reporting the story?
