Hallway decorations weren’t the only thing up for discussion among Rams personnel on Friday. Coach Steve Spagnuolo and G.M. Billy Devaney were also talking about on-field matters, namely who would be their quarterback in 2010.
Spagnuolo said that there wasn’t any timetable in place for deciding who would get the starting job.
“That may direct itself depending on things that happen. And we know what we’re all talking about.”
We’re talking about potential trades and the draft. Devaney said that he felt that there were first-round talents at quarterback, although most observers agree that the team wouldn’t select one unless it traded out of the first overall draft slot. Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has established himself as the top player in this year’s draft.
As for trades, eyes in St. Louis have been on Michael Vick since Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported earlier this week that Rams assistants have reached out to their Eagles counterparts. Spagnuolo didn’t get into specifics, but did touch on Vick.
“I’ve got a lot of respect for Michael as a player,” Spagnuolo said.
“Everything I’ve heard out of Philadelphia is kind of good. We haven’t
gone down that road in our process yet. I think he’s a terrific
player.”
Spagnuolo wouldn’t rule out returns for either Marc Bulger or Kyle Boller, but the key theme seemed to be that the Rams have a lot of work ahead of them when it comes to the quarterback spot this offseason.
“I’ve got a lot of respect for Michael as a player,” Spagnuolo said. “Everything I’ve heard out of Philadelphia is kind of good. We haven’t gone down that road in our process yet. I think he’s a terrific player.”

Michael who?
He can’t be talking about Vick.
Are there dogs in St. Louis for him

Michael Vick will be the QB of the Rams next year, mark it down.
Lets say Rams draft Suh, Get Vick, And Possibly another Receiver in the 2nd round such as Arrelious Benn, they would have great young talent, and could possibly pull a Miami Dolphins turn around and win the division following a 1-15 year.
The Rams are in a great position if they can hit gold this draft it will turn around their franchise completley. Not to mention the NFC West is as Weak as its ever been with Kurt Warner retiring and The Seahawks changing around the whole front office.
If the Rams show up in the draft, it will be a 2 team race between them and the 49ers, just like the good old days.
Vick would be a key acquistion also.
Who knows, maybe Tony Pike is available late 2nd and they pick him up as well.
The Defense isin’t a major concern because it was not the weak point of the team this year, they played hard almost every week.
But if you add Suh into the mix, I think the Rams can finish with a Top 10 Defense next year.
The 2009 Version of the St. Louis Rams was probably the best 1-15 team in the History of the NFL.
Lets not forget they almost up-ended the New Orleans Saints in Week 9.
I am not even a Rams fan, I am just saying that they have all the tools neccesary to become an Elite Team again.
However, their lack of Drafting Good Quality Players Might Haunt them some more, seeing as every single draft pick from the 2006 Class for them is either no longer in the NFL, or wearing a different uniform.
That was the Scott Linehan regime.
Welcome to the Spagnuolo regime.
They should draft Clausen and let the Lions draft Suh.
OMG COLLUSION
VICK = ASSHOLE
Don’t think the Rams want the firestorm that will follow especially with talks of the team for sale.
Time for the NFL to ban felons from playing.
Rams want to run a west coast offense, McNabb would be a good fit.
Vick doesn’t have the patience or accuracy to run a west coast style offense. He’ll be back to playing as a “gimmick.”
Rams should definetly get vick for this upcoming season since he would a way bigger upgrade than bulger and boller, then they can have a quarterback who can make plays and then they can address their hurtin’ defense in the draft starting by taking Suh 1st overrall
VICK is a loser
Take him, please. Then Trade Donnie in the Dirt.
Rams won’t have to give up much to get him. Eagles however hold the keys to Vick. A 4th round pick doesn’t mean Vick is leaving. A 4th round pick to start, along with incentives in the trade can bolster it up to a 2nd round pick or something along those lines.
I have long thought that Vick’s best option for success was to go to the Rams…. With him and Steven Jackson in the back field it will present a duel threat much like Vince Young and Chris Johnson does in Tennessee!
“Everything I’ve heard out of Philadelphia is kind of good.”
doesnt resonate confidence there.
Yet you “Angry” BlueEyeDevils continue to come on Vick blogs………..
Stupidity has no boundaries………….
HA HA HA
@roofles
I was thinking the exact same thing. Saying “kind of good” doesn’t sound like a great endorsement to me. I’d like to see them pick up a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round to develop. Vick’s best years are behind him – I think he’s best off going to a team that is a serviceable QB away from making a run. The Rams are rebuilding and they need the draft picks to do that. They need much more than a QB, no need to waste the draft pick on Vick.
Nick Shank says:
“The 2009 Version of the St. Louis Rams was probably the best 1-15 team in the History of the NFL.
Lets not forget they almost up-ended the New Orleans Saints in Week 9.”
Did you see their QB(s) play last year????? They had one offensive weapon, Steven Jackson.
Felons shouldnt be allowed to play but as a seahawks fan I would love to see him go to St. Louis and set that franchise back another few years culminating in their move to LA. How is St. Louis in the NFC “West” anyway?
The Rams need to stop drafting these O-Line and D-Line “studs” and draft the most important position on the field. QB!! DTs don’t win championships. QBs do.
2008 – They draft DE Chris Long. They wish they drafted Matt Ryan.
2009 – They draft LT Jason Smith. They wish they drafted Mark Sanchez.
2010 – They draft DT Suh. They wish the drafted Jimmy Clausen.
And I don’t want to hear that they can wait on a QB and get one in the 2nd or 3rd round. Middle round QBs have a HUGE bust rate. Look at this list of middle round (2nd-4th) QBs taken since 2006: Kellen Clemens, Tavaris Jackson, Charlie Whitehurst, Brodie Croyle, Brad Smith, John Beck, Kevin Kolb, Trent Edwards, Brian Brohm, Chad Henne, Kevin O’ Connell, Drew Stanton, Isaiah Stanback, Pat White, Stephen McGee.
That is what the Rams are getting if they wait on a QB and try to get a “steal” in the middle rounds.
And Michael Vick at QB?!?! He completed 50% of his passes and was a .500 QB when he was in his prime! Now he is 3 years past his prime.
Draft Clausen. Please.
Mike Vick is exactly the kind of high character guy you want to bring in to lead your young rebuilding team. What a great idea. Who needs draft picks when you can have a washed up douche.
Yeah if the Rams grab Vick then they won’t need to draft WRs – the guy doesn’t even know they’re part of the offense.
Spags’s is not endorsing Vick, he’s just not saying anything negative about him. Vick would be good on a team that runs the wishbone and the Rams don’t.
I see that clown “smackmyvickup” is still running around sniffing Vick’s jock. Dang dude…LOL…how did that “bounty” work out?? LOL
Looks like the Rams are still in the self- destruct mode, is the management trying to lose.
They remind me of the movie Major League
Nick Shank…you crack me up man..
SmackMyVickUp…no,No,NO! McNabb is the opposite of a good fit in the west coast offense.
Think about it, Vick in St. Louis this could be interesting to say the least.
