Reporter gets booted from labor meeting

Daniel Kaplan of Sports Business Journal went to the Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale to cover the Saturday morning labor meeting between the NFL and the players union.  Though he didn’t expect to be in the room during the negotiating session, he hoped to wait outside so that he could interview people as they enter and/or exit.

But Kaplan says via Twitter that police ejected him from the floor where the meeting is being held.

Kaplan later said that he will be permitted to go to the floor where the ownership meeting will commence at 11:00 a.m. ET.

Meanwhile, Liz Mullen of SBJ has taken the case to Twitter, asking NFL spokesman Greg Aiello to let SBJcover labor 4 NFL fans.”

The Union is falling apart as we speak. They’re desperate, paranoid and afraid; a cheap deal, in favor of management, is on the horizon!

Since when did the NFL care about their fans?
It’s just the IMAGE that they portray to fans. Caring about your users versus presenting the image that you do are two very different things.

Hey Terry – how do you get “the union is falling apart” out of a reporter being thrown out of a meeting area by the NFL. The NFL would be the owners – not the union.
    Try and keep up.

Unions are not only inherently corrupt, but completely unnecessary.

Sounds like maybe Demaurice Smith is taking a page from Obama, the negotiations will not be televised!

This is clearly part of the NFL owners attempt to manage any news coming out of the negotiations. They feel they can lockout the players, while at the same time convincing fans that the players are on strike! Judging from posts I’ve read from ignorant fans, they may be right.

    Because…………?
Do you believe that the union is paranoid and got this guy ejected? Seriously, who has a gag order – the union or the owners?
