Sapp arrested for domestic battery

Following an investigation into allegations that former NFL defensive tackle and current NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp committed domestic violence against a female acquaintance, Sapp was arrested on charges of misdemeanor domestic battery.

The incident allegedly occurred at a Miami Beach hotel early Saturday, according to the Associated Press. He’s expected to appear before a Miami-Dade judge on Sunday.

The report was made to police at noon local time Saturday. Authorities thereafter interviewed Sapp.

The woman claims that Sapp choked her and pushed her down to a couch; she has a swollen knee and bruises on her neck. Sapp reportedly told police that she fell while he was helping her off a couch.

Some of you have asked why NFL Network would decide to keep Sapp off the air while at the same time permitting Michael Irvin to continue to appear on the network. The answer is simple; Irvin is facing no criminal charges at this time.
