The drama surrounding Dwight Freeney’s status is over. He’s playing.
Whether Freeney can play well enough to be effective remains to be seen. Freeney just warmed up for about 10 minutes, and looked pretty good to these untrained eyes.
Freeney looked quick jumping out of his three point stance, but mostly just ran straight ahead. He didn’t appear to aggressively test his ankle until his last simulated snap before he headed back to the locker room.
On that snap, Freeney took a series of short, choppy steps and came out of it well. We’ll see in about 90 minutes how close to 100% he truly is, but the early signs are encouraging.
