After a surprisingly sluggish first half during which the teams seemed to feel each other out, the Saints and Colts are heating up.
They have combined for 17 points in roughly 13 minutes of second-half play.
Saints placekicker Garrett Hartley remained on the money with a 47-yard field goal that split the uprights after an eight-play drive. Hartley is now 3-for-3 on field goals, and each of his attempts have been from 44 yards away or longer.
He is officially in the record books, as no kicker in Super Bowl history had ever made three or more field goals from 40-plus yards in the big game.
Marques Colston leads the Saints in receiving with 75 yards on six catches.
Pierre Thomas is the team’s rushing leader with eight carries for 27 yards.
Thomas also has a receiving touchdown.
Colts 17, Saints 16.
