The American justice system carries with it a presumption of
innocence. It’s a concept we need to keep in mind whenever someone
connected to the NFL or the media (or both) faces criminal allegations.
We point that out because our pal Brooks of SportsByBrooks.com reports that the recent accusations against Warren Sapp of NFL Network are false.
So let’s not prejudge Warren, or anyone else. Though the court of
public opinion often applies a different standard of proof, it’s still
way too early in this process to conclude that Sapp did anything wrong.
Well the folks, like myself are basing our opinions on the facts that news organizations(you too florio) are reporting. Based on what we(public) read, Sapp is coming across like a scumbag woman beater. When more facts are known, opinions can change.
He’s guilty!!!
Sapp is innocent……………
Love, Joe Isuzu
Since when is a whore tweeting a “report”? Lame.
Money talks don’t it!!
I’ve been arrested by the Miami Beach Police Department. They have history of jumping to conclusion and roughing people up. Before I got arrested, I thought people were exaggerating about that. Even the police department from the other city within the Miami-Dade county can attest that. It is the internal affairs that looks the other way and it is their police department culture that it is ok to do the mean-spirited thing.
So, when I heard Warren Sapp got arrested, I have to say “hold your horse” and don’t judge everything and anything right now. Not when it happened in Miami Beach.
Looks like Sapp opened his wallet.
Fry him!
But Vox doesn’t like him, so he has to be guilty!
Was this fact not brought to the attention of law enforcement and the judge?
Can we sent him to Gitmo for not being fake nice to the guy who cuts the lawn of one of Vox’s friends next door neighbors?
Because this just isn’t justice!
Well, there are 2 common themes in the Media these days (most of it)… 1) Liberals are awesome/Conservatives are the devil. 2) Everyone is guilty of something, especially if they aren’t, because they must be hiding it.
The Media (you included, El Florio) thrive on bad things happening, so why not occlude the facts with gibber jabber and hearsay. Like you do.
“The American justice system carries with it a presumption of innocence.”
Not any more thanks to the media.
If the charge is he’s the village idiot he’s as guilty as sin!!!!
Sue for a million bucks!
What are they basing their report that the charges are false? That could be as bad a job of reporting as any media outlet claiming it is true.
I don’t know about the details of this case. I do know that, in general, Warren Sapp fears paternity tests.
He deserves to be in jail. Even if he didn’t do this, I’m sure he has done something else recently that proves what a DB he really is.
In his absence, NFL network brings Joey Porter on the set? Goodness, whose call was that? Maybe they could get Lawrence Phillips next?
By the way, does Porter’s voice sound like Marge Schott, or is there something wrong with my TV?
Hey guys everybody calm down this is no big deal it was a simple slip of the hand
All the best,
Tom Cable
Anybody heard from Jim Brown?
“We point that out because our pal Brooks of SportsByBrooks.com reports that the recent accusations against Warren Sapp of NFL Network are false.”
Actually, the site reports that a friend of Sapp’s says the charges are false. The site itself doesn’t take a stand on the truth or falsity of the allegations. Given your lack of reading comprehension, you were probably a worse attorney than you are a sports blogger.
No idea if Sapp is truly innocent or not… but I do know that when it comes to Domestic Violence, the authorities take no chances and will take actions to protect the safety of the woman, even if that might make the accused look bad in the realm of public opinion.
That’s a good precedent to put safety first but a bad precedent if people pre-judge without the facts.
If Mr. Sapp’s charges are false maybe he will decide to do a better job of reporting. His constant drivel with no factual baring on the topic is the same kind of reporting that has already proven him guilty.
lol khuman
Like the posters above have said: We the readers go by what is “reported” by bloggers like Florio. As readers we tend to forget that though PFT is under the NBC banner this is nothing but a blog that somehow manages to get some of it’s reporting right. And as the other poster said: You must be guilty if not you’re hiding something you’re guilty of thus you are guilty and must be fried in the court of public opinion.
Guilty of being a fat blowhard who smells like cocobutter…
Who cares!
Bitch shoulda done what she was told….
Holy crap Redstorms, you have got the biggest chubby for any remark that mentions the Raiders. Settle down Beavis!
Oh, by all means, let’s drop the case. I mean, if BROOKS says Sapp is innocent, he certainly is. Can you please tell the plaintiff that BROOKS says Sapp is innocent? I’m sure she’ll convince police to drop the charges right away…
Now he’s lost that sweet job with the NFL for sure!
Those pics & that association is probably even worst than the domestic violence charge.
Poor guy. I like Warren, he is pretty good at his job too. It’s really INSANELY unfortunate that Sapp is out & Irvin the crack-head is still there.
Since when has Florio started kissing Sapps ass?
This is the RUMOR MILL. Everyone is GUILTY!
Domestic is the only misdemeanor MUST ARREST. Even if it is a he said she said. Has nothing to do with the police but the lawmakers who direct the police.
Good work jumping the gun NFLN.
He’s an IDIOT simply for putting himself in the position!

==================================
The ‘presumption of innocence’ applies only to the jury in a trial.
If we presume everyone ‘innocent’ then how is it legal to put anyone in prison or jail before they are found guilty? O.J. Simpson spent a year in jail before his murder trial, if he was “presumed innocent” then it would be unjust to hold him in jail for a year.
whoa, if some guy named Brooks says its so then its so…thats good enough for me, especially when his source is “Vegas Aysha” via a Tweet!
Sh1t, even Tila Tequila is more credible…open the gates. Geez Florio you are freakin unreal!
Am I missing something? This article simply states that she was not the one who Sapp choked and threw to the floor. Nothing else.
But thanks for all the cleavage.
@Jeff W
so you think Sapp, even if he’s innocent of this charge, “deserves” to be in jail?
Damn. Is it just Warren Sapp, or anyone who looks like him?
@ Terry
so he “put himself in that position?”
and what position is that? leaving the house, walking around like a free human being?
Man, some of you people are seriously disturbed. What did your parents do to you?
Unless something’s changed in the last couple of years, if the police in Florida get called to any type of domestic dispute, one or the other parties involved are going to jail. It’s standard procedure. Doesn’t mean that he is guilty. Just probably means that his wife/girlfriend is the one who called the police.
Have you read the Brooks story? Some scantily dressed, large breasted woman, pictured ‘flipping the bird’ with Sapp, and who sounds as though she just came straight from the ghetto to impart this information and oh yeh, by the way, goes by the name(?) ‘Persiana’ and who wants to “Whoop a bitch”, claims someone is lying. Well gee, that sounds pretty straight to me. Say goodbye to your promising broadcast career Sapp, hope she was worth it you moron.
Surprise, Surprise…………………
Isn’t this the State that gave Stalworth 24 days
of hard time for murdering a man with his vehicle while drunk?
When is the NFL leadership going to wake up and eliminate these thugs from their organization!
“The American justice system carries with it a presumption of innocence. It’s a concept we need to keep in mind whenever someone connected to the NFL or the media (or both) faces criminal allegations.”
That’s a hilarious statement coming from somebody (that would be you, Mike) who’s pretty much done everything you can short of garnishing Michael Irvin’s bank account to pay off the random bimbo he’s accused of raping. Really sidesplitting stuff there – you should do the comedy club circuit.
