Colts are favorites to win Super Bowl XLV

A day after the Indianapolis Colts lost Super Bowl XLIV, they’ve been tabbed as the early favorites to win Super Bowl XLV.

According to Bodog.com, the Colts are 13/2 favorites to win the Super Bowl a year from now.

The Super Bowl XLIV champion New Orleans Saints aren’t considered the favorites, and they’re not even No. 2 behind the Colts. The Chargers are next at 8/1, while the Saints are third, tied with the Patriots at 10/1.

Six teams — the Browns, Lions, Chiefs, Raiders, Rams and Buccaneers — are tied with the longest odds on the board, at 100/1.

The Cowboys should be the favorites…Jerry Jones will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to get us there!!

  3. FireJerryJones says: Feb 8, 2010 1:50 PM

These guys obviously don’t know the stats for the losing team even making the playoffs the following year…
It’s tough enough to stay on top when you win the game. The losing team doesn’t even make the playoffs more than 50% of the time next year…
These guys all want to get paid… they’ll be free agents playing elsewhere.

  4. Manbearpig says: Feb 8, 2010 1:50 PM

Where are the Vikings? Or does that depend on a Hattiesburg announcement?
I’d put the Vikes at 100/1 if Jackson is behind center.

  5. DanRooney says: Feb 8, 2010 1:55 PM

That’s about as relevant as your Redskins SB prediction last year, Florio.

  6. skinsfan20657 says: Feb 8, 2010 1:56 PM

How can you pick a favorite when the teams roster’s aren’t even set for next year !

  7. toddm6d says: Feb 8, 2010 1:57 PM

Maybe Roger will give a wink wink nod nod to Zygi over the offseason.
Zygi does need a new stadium up in Minneapolis after all.

Next season now seems pretty pointless now that we know who wins it all.
Thanks for ruining it for us Bodog.com!

  9. beretta96 says: Feb 8, 2010 1:59 PM

Why? Are they getting rid of their QB? Highest paid player in football? Good, who’s he going to throw to?
    Brady 3…..Manning 1

  10. DJP says: Feb 8, 2010 2:01 PM

The Chargers? You mean the team that “chokes” every year? What a sucker’s bet that is….

  11. Caldon says: Feb 8, 2010 2:03 PM

Of course, because Manning is the best ever~ /sarcasm

  12. Larry David says: Feb 8, 2010 2:04 PM

I’d agree with that. The Colts are getting back Bob Sanders, Marlin Jackson, and Anthony Gonzalez next year. I’d have the Saints ahead of the year after year fraud Chargers though.

  13. WarrenMoonGOAT says: Feb 8, 2010 2:07 PM

dang leave up to u guys to not even let the Saints relish this win and ur already talkin about next years SB

  14. Ilovefoolsball says: Feb 8, 2010 2:07 PM

haha the Colts were favored in superbowl XLIV, how did that work out for ‘em?

  15. edgy1957 says: Feb 8, 2010 2:09 PM

Considering how the teams have done after winning, I’m not surprised at where they have the Saints. Plus, will they be able to sign all of those free agents?

  16. Chapnasty2 says: Feb 8, 2010 2:11 PM

At first I thought Florio was writing this and making another prediction. I hope to god he doesn’t predict the Cowboys for next year as clearly he only knows how to report gossip that he hears.

  17. coxypoo says: Feb 8, 2010 2:13 PM

Well by that measure I guess Bradshaw is better than Brady cause he was 4-0. The mere fact that Bradshaw has more INTs than TDs is irrelivant according to ur gorilla math.

  18. WashingtonRedstorms says: Feb 8, 2010 2:19 PM

    Browns vs Lions 2011 SB…..

  19. Bell63 says: Feb 8, 2010 2:22 PM

I would imagine this will change if the uncapped year happens. The ‘final 8′ are restricted on signing their FA’s, it will be difficult for any of them to make a legitimate playoff run.

  20. BleedingSilverAndBlack says: Feb 8, 2010 2:23 PM

  22. ch19079 says: Feb 8, 2010 2:25 PM

    They should be favorites.
Every great offense in the NFL has followed that season with only a slightly above average offense the following year.
The saints will be in the playoffs next year, but I dont see another super bowl run next season.

    LMAO
Browns vs Lions.. I would definitely watch that game. No lie.
The Vikings should be built for another run, but I really think McNabb needs to be under center.
I’m not a McNabb fan, but I just can’t fathom how Favre can be around, and the team is built to win within a 3-4 year time period.
For the AFC… Why aren’t the Jets in contention?

HaHa to the cowboy fans. The only additions that you are going to be adding is through the draft. You guys cannot make a free agency move until someone has taken one of your RFA. Check out the final 8 rule in an uncapped year. Cangrats to your first Playoff win in 13 years. To bad it screwed you.

The Chargers? Gimme a break. They are the favorite for the playoffs choke team, ahead of the Cowboys.
    The Jets? Paper Tigers .
The Colts will have a hard time getting over this loss and will not be the same next year.

  37. Dirt McGirt says: Feb 8, 2010 3:07 PM

Everyone knows the Colts will do what they do every year–put together a good regular season and then bust out in the playoffs. Look at Peyton’s numbers going back to high school and the guy just can’t get it done when it counts.

  38. GhostofFlorioPast says: Feb 8, 2010 3:09 PM

And the Patriots have the Raiders’ first round draft choice next year – top six? . Thank you, B.B.

  39. IAVikefan says: Feb 8, 2010 3:11 PM

The Cowboys??? LMFAO…. Even Jerry Jones can’t spend enough money to fix all the problems that led to the 34-3 beat down in the metrodome… Cowboys aren’t going anywhere… except possibly back to the dome to get whooped on again.

  40. reformed says: Feb 8, 2010 3:11 PM

Hardly. Arent you the same people who said the colts would do it this year.??? Maybe the Skins again?? Predictions are unpredictable

  41. Deb says: Feb 8, 2010 3:11 PM

You have got to be kidding. For once, I’m glad the Steelers were left out of a list of potential SB contenders. How tasteless and silly is that coming not even 24 hours after SBXLIV?
Memo to self: Don’t ever bother visiting Bodog.com.
Congrats to the Saints. And no matter what these clowns say, YOU are the reigning champs until the next sticky Lombardi is handed to another team … and who that will be is anyone’s guess.

  45. bpearse says: Feb 8, 2010 4:11 PM

These aren’t “predictions”. These are odds that people can use to bet money on a future event. Usually odds are based on betting activity. This is pretty much a representation of popular opinion. I love how people will attack PFT thinking that these are their picks. Relax people!

  50. orangeandbrown85 says: Feb 8, 2010 5:08 PM

I would take any of those 100-1 teams before I’d expect to see the SD Chokers. They, not Indy, are the worst playoff team ever, as someone said.
But Browns-Lions? Damn, that would be deemed an instant classic before the game even started. 2 first-time SB teams in an old-school 1950′s NFL championship rematch….nice!

How can you pick a favorite when the teams roster’s aren’t even set for next year !
    Great Point.
I’d like to see the Colts make an aggresive move for a WR this offseason like the Patriots did in ’07 with Randy Moss. They could dominate just like the ’07 Patriots did
I’ve never seen a better, more dominant team then the 2007 Patriots, and I have been watching football a long time.

BoDog isn’t “predicting” anything, they are setting lines / odds. Vegas didn’t “predict” that the Colts would win by 5.5, they set a line and adjusted accordingly in order to have even money on both sides. Why do people get offended by Vegas lines, props, etc?

  55. Deb says: Feb 8, 2010 8:00 PM

    @bavaro89 …
Thanks for the info about the betting line. To laypeople it seems to be a prediction. And for PFT to start posting predictions that the Colts will be next year’s winner before Saints fans have had even 24 hours to enjoy their victory seems tasteless to me. It also seems a little foolhardy. The gamblers didn’t do too well backing the Colts this year, did they?
It’s too bad I don’t gamble. Instead of focusing on odds, I follow my heart. I told everyone throughout the playoffs in 07 that the universe would not let the Pats win. I trusted that my Steelers would win last year. And I told all my friends this year that the universe would not let the Colts win. I could have cleaned up :-)

  56. bluesgutter says: Feb 8, 2010 10:39 PM

Is this article about the same Colts who were favored to win yesterday’s Super Bowl?

  57. Adam says: Feb 9, 2010 3:55 AM

The Chargers are favored as a top seed every year and get soft and lose in the playoffs. It’s insanity. Chargers suck. Don’t know why people bet on them. Odds makers are smart.

  58. reformed says: Feb 10, 2010 12:21 PM

The Colts laid down and quit when they said no to undefeated. Quit. Like little ninnies. Yes, Quit.
They quit in the SB, plying not to lose. Polian should try looking at himself, the coach, yes this guy is not “calibre” and the team. Not this year, not next but maybe one more.
