Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan is continuing to assemble his coaching staff, today announcing the hiring of Richard Hightower as assistant special teams coach.
Hightower, who in 2009 was the wide receivers coach at the University of Minnesota, will assist special teams coordinator Danny Smith.
“We knew we would need someone with a lot of energy to keep up with Danny Smith, and Richard is that coach,” Shanahan said. “He has both youth and experience, and he will be a great asset to our special teams and our organization.”
Hightower spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons as the special teams assistant for the Houston Texans, where he was on the same staff as Kyle Shanahan, Mike’s son and now the Redskins’ offensive coordinator.
I believe the NFL team limit is 53 players on the active roster, is Shanahan trying to hire 53 coaches so he’ll have a 1:1 ratio of coaches to players?
Shanahan should hire some decent defensive coaches and scouts so his defense doesn’t blow a** again. Even the Raiders could run through that gaping hole.
Why did Al Davis ever get rid of Shanahan in the first place?
When will they be announcing the release of Clinton “The Cancer” Portis?? I want to set my DVR to record that press confrence!!
