Julius Peppers and the Carolina Panthers appear headed for a divorce, as MDS pointed out earlier this morning.
What's uncertain is whether the Panthers will try to trade Peppers (after using the franchise tag once again), simply let him walk, and how they will fill some gaping holes on their defensive line.
With the last question in mind, the Panthers met with former Colts defensive tackle Ed Johnson last week, according to the Rock Hill Herald. Johnson was suspended three times at Penn State and arrested once in the NFL.
He was cut after four starts in 2009; the Colts preferred Dan Muir and Antonio Johnson. The Panthers need live bodies at tackle and Ron Meeks worked with Ed Johnson in Indianapolis, so it looks like a good match.

dont count the Chiefs out for Julius
for some reason i think Peppers will be a Titan
Peppers can just start looking for real estate in the DC area. Nobody will outbid Snyder.
With Meeks in Carolina, they should trade for Raheem Brock, so the Colts could get rid of him.
this guy is grossly overpaid and is very inconsistent.
Whichever team acquires him (stay away Eagles) is gonna create a humongous burden for themselves, ala the Redskins with Haynesworth.
I second the notion for the Chiefs. Peppers name has been brought up quite a bit here in KC.
wow. i have not heard much about the chiefs in years. welcome back.
Here is the negotiation between Dan Snyder and Peppers agent:
Agent: We want $33 mil guaranteed.
Snyder: No, I'll give you $39 mil guaranteed.
Trade him for Boldin. Boldin wanted out the last I heard. AZ could use a DE, and Carolina needs a second WR. Seems to me the be good deal for both sides.
Why not trade him to Denver? They are in the AFC, and Carolina could get Brandon Marshall out of the deal.
Hopefully you'll hear something about the Chiefs again. And the 49ers. Two classic teams that sort of dropped off recently.
Oh and JoeyJoe Joe, that's da worst name I eva heard
How about a trade with the Eagles straight up Peppers vs McNabb???
Eagles could need someone across Trent Cole and Carolina is desperate for a "real" QB (Delhomme is done and Moore might need some more time and is really inconsistent)...

Except Peppers is a OLB in a 3-4, not a DE

---------------
Are you retarded? Peppers has been a DE his entire career. The only time he's even resembled an OLB is when the D. Coordinator, be it Meeks, Trgovac, or Del Rio, would let him play DE from a standing position and move to exploit a mismatch on the O-Line. There are some truly ignorant people that come onto this website.
The Bills have Marcus Stroud under a reasonable contract and he doesn't fit in their new 3-4. The Bills will need more draft picks to make the defensive transition.
Speaking of retarded. Peppers himself said he wants to go to a 3-4 team and play OLB. Maybe you need to check the facts before you go calling people names. I don't know the guy that Monsta called retarded, but I know that he knows more than this monsta dude.
So the Panthers look for a DT and it means the DE is gone. Logical.
I think the dline in carolina is rather deep now.. everet brown and charles johnson will be big next year.
I am pretty sure the Eagles will make a run at him. They put huge value on DEs and rushing the QB. Their entire defense is built on pressuring the QB. It will make the secondary a lot better. They have been trying to find somone opposite of Trent Cole for a long time now and Peppers would be a beast opposite Cole.
If they can get Peppers from free agency they can then concentrate on the O-line, safety and LB in the draft and other depth positions.
The way carolina has been going is haphazard at best ie the contract with fox it seems they are at a standstill within the organization they will problably loose their best player in peppers and implode I remember the 1-15 year under seifert fox has brought stability to carolina and someone in the front office needs to get their act together and take control quick firt time poster sorry for the length
if we do trade him hope we get a first and A third everette brown is to small to fill his shoes
