The Bears took a gamble by signing Orlando Pace. They lost. After watching tape on the Bears, Ron Jaworski told the Chicago Sun-Times what many others thought this year.
“I know what Orlando was,” Jaworski said. “He was an All-Pro, Hall of Fame tackle. But he’s not that now. The guy’s a warrior, and you
can say all this stuff. But there’s nothing left.”
Pace was benched late in the year in a move that was long overdue; he will almost certainly be released soon. Chicago’s decision to sign Pace failed on many levels, one of which is that youngster Chris Williams spent almost the entire season at right tackle.
Williams looked good in a late switch to the left side, where he was originally drafted to play. He missed valuable experience all year. With Williams moving to the blind side permanently, one candidate to take Williams’ spot at right tackle will be Frank Omiyale.
Omiyale could have potentially played that position last year if not for . . . well, you know.
More like Orlando Pace of crap.
Jerry Angelo has turned that team into a mess…..
And who would know nothing left better then never was never will be jaws
Note to the NFL: When the RAMS don’t have use for a player, it means you don’t either. Thanks.
Williams, Omiyale, Beekman, FA, Kyle Schaefer
Adios Pace and Kreutz.
Who really cares. The Bears will go 8-8 or at best 9-7 if all goes well. No one wanted to come to the team to coach because they know they’ll be fired after next season. A new OC in Fartz and the D is ready for a nursing home won’t do much. The desperate hiring of Rod M as DC speaks volumes of what outsiders think of the organization.
Lost some respect for Phillips. Did a great job of coming in at a tough time after Mrs. Mc fired her son but to not eat Lovie’s salary and move on shows where their priorites are. Biz is biz I guess.

Hey Jerry Angelo,
Lomas Brown is available. Please get him off the airwaves
Of COURSE business is business. I’m blown away that some of the posters here would think otherwise. The McCaskeys didn’t buy the franchise as a good-will gesture; they bought it to make money. Fielding a winner is part of that equation. Amazing how some fans seem to think winning is the only thing that matters. Welcome to reality, folks. This is entertainment, plain and simple, no matter how much passion underlies it.
Pace was signed to a relatively low salary. Given the first ballot Hall-of-Fame player he was earlier in his career, it was worth the risk and hopefully he also served as a good mentor to the younger linemen. Williams looked immeasurably better toward the end of the season than he did the year before, and perhaps Pace had something to do with that. As for Kreutz, show some respect. The guy is a warrior and has bled Orange-and-Blue his whole career. Just because he’s older just mean you need to be nasty. Diminished skills doesn’t equate to him suddenly becoming a bad person or teammate.
Don’t be a cowardly troll and flame people for the fun of it. Lets let this forum be worthwhile.
They were stupid. They should have used him as a backup. He didn’t have enough in the tank to start, now it’s over.
I would like to hear Jaws view of Kreutz- I think he is done as well.
It amazes me that the guy or guys that signed him have a high paying NFL job, and I can’t get one at Dicks sporting goods. I honestly would never have even thought twice about signing Pace at this stage and neither would half or more of your readers.
The M&M coaches will not have enough to change much in one year. I agree around 8-8
I really feel for you Bears fans. The city of Chicago rocks and the fans are passionate and most have a great football IQ. It has got to be hard to watch this mess. Cutler can be a stud with a supporting cast, but where do you get the supporting cast? The D is old and the offense is really lacking. Hopefully you guys can find some depth late in the draft.
RIP Gaines
Hey midway first of all the mccaskeys married into the team. Second of all the problem most of us have is not that it’s a business for them but that they are running it so poorly. Chicago is a major city with loyal fans so revenue should not be an issue. The fact that they do not create more revenue streams shows the lack of sense this organization has. Combine this with mediocre coaching, average scouting and a real reluctance by the team to pick up usefull free agents and it makes for the mess were in. Having said all this what I think is the real problem is the inability of this team to spot and coach up talent.
How many people watched Frank Omiyale this year? I saw a few Bears games and he was bad, very bad. Absolutely manhandled on the bullrush and loses his balance far too often on run plays.
One candidate to take Wiliams spot at right tackle…will be the rookie they draft. Williams didn’t lose experiece by playing on the right side, playing against stronger DE’s will only help him since he wasn’t the most physical guy when he was drafted. Plus its a future win for the Bears front office. They’ll know in the future whether or not Williams can move to RT in emergencies and can shape the roster to reflect that. Ah…glass half full.
“Don’t be a cowardly troll and flame people for the fun of it. Lets let this forum be worthwhile.”
Midway – If you pay for a hooker, I guess you might call that entertainment as well, a you expect to get what you pay for.
The bottom line is the Bears have been fleecing fans for decades. A couple spikes in success isn’t what we pay for. What they’re doing isn’t fun and it’s not good business sense either. Including Lovie, four head coaches on the team? All cast offs? They’re embarrassing themselves.
It’s hard to be a coward after being a Bears fan for the last 50 years. Don’t be a dumb ass and spout off about people you don’t know.
You’ve been flamed.

The McCaskeys did not buy the team or marry into it.
Virginia McCaskey is the daughter of George Halas and Halas founded the team on his own.
The Bears have never been bought or sold and have been owned by the same family for the last 90 years.
I love Halas but he is long gone and I want his family to let go already.
Halas knew every aspect of pro football from being one of the leagues founders, an owner, a player and a coach and none that knowledge was passed along to his kin.
All they did was survive childbirth.
Pace on Jaworski: “There was never anything there.”
