Florio, you are idiot. First of all, if you had enough common sense to go to nascar.com you would figure out that it is no longer called the Craftsman Truck Series. Nice reporting. Secondly, I would love to see your sorry ass straped into one of those cars going 190+ MPH since it is such a “basic human task.”

You both nailed it, driving a stock car is extremely demanding & dangerous.
I did neglect the Preakness & the most overexposed “Sport(?)” on television, poker. What was I thinking?
For the knuckleheads spouting the racial crap, get a life, MJD isn’t a “thug”. If he wants to spend his hard-earned $$ in NASCAR, so be it. Grow up.
And Florio is comparing NASCAR to “synchronized vacuuming”? Without question NBC’s poker coverage is riveting, but now we can watch the death-defying sport of curling on NBC’s fabulous Olympic coverage. For the faint of heart, please look away, it’s much more thrilling to watch than poker.
I love to play poker, but watching it on television is much closer to “synchronized vacuuming” Careful Florio, your elitest lawyer arrogance is showing.

Anyone who believes this load of garbage has no clue as to what the true definition of sport is. Believe it or not, if there is a such thing as competitive knitting, it would fall under the definition of sport.
I have no problem with those who don’t like auto racing, but I do have one with those who open their trap and spew complete and utter nonsense about it. If you don’t like it, fine. Just say so, and leave it at that.
In NASCARS case. They hit their peak a few years back, then started fiddling with everything. The result has become a rather bland product. Add that with gouging at the ticket booths, and you get a slight decline in popularity. NASCAR has realized this, and loosened up the chains a little, giving drivers a little more freedom to govern themselves. Overbearing rules started to get in the way of all the great rivalries and drama, which the sport depends on. Things got a little too vanilla.
The NFL could learn from this. There is a point where you got to stop tweaking things, as well as a point where you have to put a cap on ticket prices, or one day we’ll be seeing the NFL going through the very same thing. It’s inevitable. It’s hard to imagine something like that happening right now, but it can, and it will.

Nascar admits the ratings are eroding. That is why they are “letting the boys play” this coming up season. That is why they allowed Danica to come from F1.
Maybe MJD HAS done his research and if he takes a similar route to what Moss did, it’s a safe go at something new. I mean, it is HIS money, and if he doesn’t spend it, SOMEWHERE, the government will take it.

In the middle of summer, turn your AC off, roll up your windows and turn your heater on. Make sure you’re wearing pants and long sleeves too. Now try driving for 500 miles at a stretch, and the come back and tell me those guys aren’t in pretty good shape.
For our next exercise, try getting into a multi-car wreck, rolling your car several times or hitting the wall at 180 mph and then telling me NASCAR isn’t a contact sport.

1. NASCAR draws huge TV ratings & Danica Patrick coming over to the nationwide Series will only help the ratings even more.
2. NBC doesn’t televise NASCAR.
3. NBC televises exactly one NFL game a week, a Notre Dame game now & then, no baseball, no basketball, no auto racing of any type. Is televising the Olympics every 2 years pretty much the scope of the SPORTS in NBC SPORTS?

Theres a difference between driving and driving a car 200 mph with another car literally 2 inches in front of you and 2 inches behind you. Id love to see you jump in a nascar and drive if, if you can even reach the pedals.
