NFL Films: Wayne said “he jumped it”

A few hours ago, we wondered why NFL Films chose to omit the discussion between Reggie Wayne and Peyton Manning after Tracy Porter’s interception in the Super Bowl.

Judging by the response, you guys like a good conspiracy theory as much as us. NFL Films tells PFT, however, they withheld Wayne’s comment only because it wasn’t interesting.

Wayne’s comment was simply, “He jumped it.” (This quality writeup shows how true that is.)

“It was not a great sound bite,” a producer at NFL Films relayed to us. “The cameraman who was shooting Wayne chose to follow Porter after the interception. We made the decision not to use it in some of our shows.”

They may include Wayne’s quote in future programs.

“We make creative decisions all the time based on what is the best sound,” the producer said. “At that point, we had better images and sound. Also, many times while you might think at the key moments in a game a player will always give you a great sound bite on his wire, that does not always happen.”

The bigger question, then, is what did Manning say?

Despite some creative guesses from our PFT commenters and twitter followers, we were told there was nothing audible from Manning.
