Mike Brown and Marvin Lewis have picked up another reclamation project.
Matt Jones will join the Bengals, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen. Unlike a potential Pacman Jones signing, this looks like a smart bet for the Bengals.
Jones is not a great big play threat, but we think he’s got somewhat of a bad rap as a player. He occasionally took over games in 2008 with the Jaguars and is a difficult guy to defend on third downs and the red zone.
The Bengals wideout group was lacking size and speed last year. Jones gives them some size at a very cheap price. He knows this could be his last chance in the NFL.
If Jones doesn’t impress this summer, the Bengals could drop him with nothing less. We think it’s more likely that he allows them to cut Laveranues Coles and save some money.

The whole time he was with us in Jax, we kept wondering why he had no “drive”. He seemed lazy in his attempts to catch and he gave up on a lot of plays. Then he gets busted for cocaine (which made laziness seem odd too), has one of his best seasons here not great but one of HIS best, and we cut him for drinkin a beer (which got him in trouble with his p.o.) while golfing. So, with the Jags luck, he’ll catch fire in Cincy. Fabulous.
I expected much harsher posts for this thread.I guess the Bengals picking up a guy with some baggage is just expected. Kinda like the Lions sucking,Al Davis running the Raiders into the ground and Favre being his usual diva self.

Jamal Lewis was moving serious weight. Hooking up his buddies with the cashflow to finance big time coke deals. Which he did not need to do cause he is a millionaire athlete. Lewis, did not “get it” he much like many athletes failed to separate himself from his old neighborhood boys or whatever.
Now you tell me did Lewis get a 2nd chance after committing a MAJOR felony. Yes he did and he is a decent RB. Matt Jones did not burn or drown animals, he did not committ mansluaghter, or choke out some lady, or put a hit on somebody or committ rape. He did some coke in his jeep before he went into a bar or tried to at least.

Jones should be a good fit. He was by far the most talented WR in Jax when he was there. In his last year cut short by a 4 game suspension Jones caught roughly 70 balls 750 yds and 4-5 TD’s and that is with Garrard throwing to him. Good Luck Matt and keep yourself out of trouble.

He could have been a superstar in Jacksonville. Probably had the highest selling jersey until Mojo started blowing up. His lack of motavation (at least percieved) made the fans turn on him, and the legal troubles pretty much buried him. Not a bad guy or a danger to society, but just dumb and lazy. Ca-ching!!! Jones is pretty good and is a bigger posession receiver. When you put him in the slot or opposite ochocinco, this is a good call.
Does it really matter what he does in cincy jagmankane? jacksonville is better off without him and has improved their wrs by ditching guys like him and reggie williams who have no drive or desire for the game and have their minds on other things, like drugs. mike thomas, sims-walker, and jarret dillard make crack jones and reggie “go nuts after a two yd catch” williams seem like a laughingstock. and none where even drafted in the first round. go figure. you get them where u get them.
