We noted early this month that Rick Foley, who led the Canadian Football League in sacks last season, was drawing interest from multiple NFL teams.
Now Foley has signed with the Seattle Seahawks, turning down offers from the Rams and Eagles.
Foley told the Canadian newspaper The Province that he’s excited to play for new Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, and he thinks he’s a good fit in the Seahawks’ defense defence.
“New team, new coach, new defence and new position in their defence,” Foley said. “Nobody has an advantage going into camp.”
Foley was signed by the Baltimore Ravens in 2006 but never got into a game. He says he’s a much better player now than he was then, and based on the evidence from the CFL, he may be right: Last year he was named the best defensive player in the CFL as a British Columbia Lions defensive end.
“The last time I tried I didn’t know how to study or even read a playbook,” Foley said. “I was naive. I’m a better player now and a lot more professional.”
