Yes I was after the Viking loss I said its time to move on. this guy just doesnt have it. It was january 2005 and me and a friend both agreed…it was time. favre simply doesnt have the IT factor anymore. If he ever had it. Starting over involves many unknowns. The QB situation would have been a huge unknown. Sort of like what Minnesota is going thru currently. But Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to take two forward. thankfully thats what Thompson did. So grateful. While saying grace at the dinner table this past holiday blessings were given to thompson for that very reason.

I never said Favre was THE best ever, just one of the best. And yes, many pundits and NFL experts have said that. Just because you, a know nothing, don’t like him anymore because he wears purple doesn’t change that.
And stop lying about how you were calling for Favre’s head, wishing for him to be traded, blah blah blah. I know you’re lying, and your friend chicken even acknowledges your lies.
As for Jordan, he also had been pondering retirement for at least 2 years, after the 1st title. He wrote about it in his book. And nice conspiracy theory about Stern pushing Jordan out. Kind of like my opinion that Thompson pushed Favre out, that you immediately dismissed. But since the Jordan theory is one that supports your stupidity, you decide it’s ok to run with it. I love the double standards at work here, quite typical of the Ted loving Packer fan.

Bullshit Majik. Jordan retired after his fathers death. he wanted to play baseball or the NBA told him to disappear for awhile due to his gambling problem. We may never know the truth. Favre had been publicly dickin’ around after the 2003 season at age 34 after the Philly heave in OT. Every off season “I dont know” etc etc. A couple of us around here were calling for him to be traded after 2004. Which ironically is when Arod was drafted. Hmmm…

I’m glad you just guaranteed that. Based on the outcome of your other guarantees, you have essentially guaranteed zero Lombardis in the next 10 years.
As long as Ted Thompson is running that team, the Packers will not go to or win a Super Bowl. Guaranteed.
And yes, Jordan and Favre were different situations. Because the Bulls actually had a GM smart enough to let the best player in franchise history come back after retiring and changing his mind, the Packers didn’t.
But other than that, not much difference. Both retired after great seasons, both had been considering retirement for years, and both were considered one of the greatest ever to play their respective sports, achieving multiple accolades along the way. And both guys clearly had a lot left in the tank upon their initial retirement. The only difference is that Favre didn’t wait a year and a half to return.

How was I “destroyed” in that thread? The guy made the point for me that 10 of the 22 starters on the Super Bowl winning team were not drafted by the Saints, including the MVP of the Super Bowl and their defensive MVP. Only in your eyes is that me getting destroyed. Everyone else, including the guy saying it as evidenced by his disappearance, realized I was right.
I’m looking at the big picture here, the Saints are champs and set up to be great for a while. And the best players on that team were free agent signings. Just because I don’t believe in Ted’s 5 year plan, which has them exactly where they were 5 years ago, doesn’t mean I can’t “see past my nose.” It just means I disagree with a guy who has achieved absolutely nothing in 10 years of football management other than a record barely above .500 and 1 playoff win. He left Seattle a mess, with 16 free agents, and a defense that needed to get rid of 6 starters to be competitive. And he was only saved this year by a lack of a CBA.
But the guy keeps an accurate checkbook, so you think he’s great, and so you think that makes you a big picture thinker. It really just makes you a fan of an accountant.
And if Ted’s 5 year plan was designed to end in an embarrassing loss in which they gave up 51 points to an average offense, I can’t wait to see his 10 year plan.

I’ve seen your idiotic BS all over the Viking boards, so you don’t have a leg to stand on in telling me to stay off of Packer threads. This is the typical double standard we have come to expect from Packer fans. Kind of like how Favre single handedly lost all of those games, but when a Rodgers led team loses, it’s a team game.
Most of my posts don’t slam Rodgers, I actually think he’s a pretty good player, just not as good as the guy he replaced. I have given Rodgers props many times on here. I only revert to slamming him when some idiot tries to say he is better than Favre, or that Favre is the ultimate choker.
I am clearly over Favre moving on. I root for him, and his new team, who I will continue to root for once Favre hangs it up for good. I don’t cry about what happened, I think it’s great. I love the fact that Ted threw Favre on the trash heap, and he came back to show the entire world how stupid of a move it was. Twice.
