The first step should be getting rid of coach Radio Raheem and that dumb ass O.C. Greg Olsen… what a bum. We do need to build through the draft. I am not sold on that Freeman kid either. We need to bring defense back to TB.

I am a life long Bucs fan and believe they will trade down. Overwhelmingly Bucs bloggers want Suh. This sounds like a ploy to get some excited but I will be (pleasantly) surprised if the Glazer’s would pay for a 1st round pick.

Suh is the only person worth trading up for. You just take the rest where they fall…not that Berry or McCoy won’t be great, I’m just saying Suh is the best of them.
Also, free agency is the biggest ripoff in sports. Teams that blow up the market generally lose. Why doesn’t anyone know that except for every fan (zing sportswriters!)

It goes even deeper than that, too. When you have all of these washed up old guys who come in for one, two, maybe even three seasons, and that is the basis of your roster (as it had been under Gruden) then the fanbase has nobody to get behind. Why do you think nobody around Tampa owns a jersey that isn’t nearly a decade old (or at least from an old player.)
The Glazers know that they need to draft better and develop guys so that the fanbase can become reconnected with the team, by way of great individual players who started with the Bucs, and are only associated with the Bucs. There is no way to do that when all of your contributors are cast-offs and has-beens. Gruden may have been a very good coach with sub-par talent, but he is the reason that he only had sub-par talent to work with.

why would the redskins trade up i know they would be willing to trade down, but up? they only have 5 picks as it is …i think they are gonna sit at 4 and pick the best available which could be eric berry..as for the bucs i see suh falling to them at 3

I’m with you drumbug71, I think building through the draft is the best way to go! I’m tired of the quick fix solution that we’ve seen the past 5 yrs. You end up getting old washed up guys that will get you to the playoffs but you know that you really don’t stand a snowballs chance in h*@@ to win once you get there.

The Bucs are lot further away from propelled back to the top of anything than just one big-money free agent. They have so many holes, one free agent isn’t going to make a difference this year.

That statement sounds like free agency is the only way to win a division. But what about teams like the Steelers who rarely work free agency (and if they do, its just for depth or temporary fill-ins) who are perennial contenders for the division title and playoffs?
I think building through the draft is the smartest way to build a team long term. I’m glad some teams still have a far-sighted view and arent in a constant “Win, win now” mentality.
