Agent says Pat Williams is coming back

P.Williams.jpgAfter a deflating NFC title game loss to the Saints, Vikings defensive tackle Pat Williams said he was thinking about retiring.

Nearly four weeks later, Williams’ agent says that the veteran is coming back.

“Trust me, I know what Pat Williams is doing,” Angelo Wright told Brian Murphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.  “Pat Williams is playing.”

Of course, he might ultimately not be playing in four of the games, given the still-pending StarCaps litigation.  A ruling is expected Thursday morning on the pending motions for summary judgment filed by the league and the players.

Williams will turn 38 in October.  He’s due to earn a base salary of $4.25 million and a roster bonus of $250,000.

Thats cool one Vikings made up his mind, hell he may even show up for training camp. I’m sure Favre will be more than happy to throw off the average the other way hell take closer to four months than weeks. Maybe right after the draft after they take a QB.

Welcome back Phat Pat!! We need you to anchor or line for another run at the ring. After another quality draft heavy on defense I think we will have a deep and talented roster on both sides of the ball.

  3. Professor says: Feb 17, 2010 4:54 PM

At first Williams wasn’t sure he’d be back. He didn’t know if the HGH would help his body properly recover before next season. But he upped his dosage and is already feeling much better. So he’s happy to announce that he’ll be ready to play next season. Now where are those StarCaps???…..

who cares this team has proven for 40+ years they are incapable of winning a big game. Vikings fans: next year, next year, next year, next year, next year. Thats your only argument and its pathetic. Before you talk shit why don’t you win something first? You had your chance this year: easy schedule, playing outside only a few times, could of had home field throughout, and on and on. But guess what you choked again surprise surprise. YOUR TEAM IS DONE AND WILL BE MOVING SHORTLY……hope you enjoyed the endless disappointment

But what is the argument now you beat us in the REGULAR season? Thats how dumb you people are you get a couple of regular season wins and division title and think you’ve actually accomplished something. Well great job on that REGULAR season(where you couldn’t even secure home field) I’m sure beating the Packers twice really feels good after not winning the SB after all of you said it was a lock.

Ok whatever…bottom line…Packer fans have no credibility on Vikings threads or in the NFC North for that matter.

What is there a Pabst shortage in WI today to get the cheesers all ornery?
First, Phat Pat isn’t under the gun for doing drugs, like say, John Jolly, who was found with salable quantities of codine and marijuana. Nope, Pat is in trouble for unknowingly taking a banned diuretic to lose weight to meet a contract clause. Some druggy.
The next year, next year crack coming from a Packer fan is priceless. We had to listen to the Pack is back 2009 pre-season Super Bowl hype after they were pre-season champs, when they won the first couple of regular season games, again when they won the last few games of the season and lastly before the playoffs. Of course, each time either the Vikes thumped their skulls or some other team like Tampa or the Cards demonstrated that the Pack Super Bowl dream is just that. Happened in 2007, in 2008, in 2009, and surely will happen again in 2010. The only thing you can count on these days is death, taxes, and Pack fan envy.

you vikes fans remember that game huh?…the Saints back up left tackle contained mullet all game…
the same game where the ref’s missed the call when Brees got slapped in the head by a LB
they also missed 2 helmet to helmet hits on Brees
they also missed ray edwards body slamming Brees
they also missed mullet yanking Brees by the leg after a play was over
they also missed an offensive pass interference call when Sidney Rice tugged on Greer keeping him from getting an INT
and the Reggie Bush TD right in front of the side judge that cuased Payton to throw a red flag
so bring on the vikes next year…the Saints have already proved they can overcome horrible officiating, several illegal hits on Brees and still beat the vikes

booing the coach that brought them back to the playoffs (Mike H.) and the QB (Brett Favre)that did good workfor that club. after they left the team. from the 70’s until Mike and Brett get thier they were average at best!!!!!! yeah that about 20 years of being an eye sore!!!!!!
it is now a proven fact Packers fans are the most classless people to ever live!!!!!!!
yes you heard it right classless. i was at the game when Brett hit the TD record (421) at the dome.
64000+ gave him standing ovation. he goes back to green bay and the whole place boos him. (classless)

“had we not dropped the ball 7 times we win that game by 28 – even with the cheep play- we dominated the saints – 5 turnovers and lose to a coin flip? pretty pathetic for the champs”
Did you even watch the game? Most of those turnovers were FORCED turnovers. On one particular play (maybe Rice?) the Saints defender was specifically going for the ball.
Think about this for a minute……..
A Defense can help their team win in one of two ways. Not give up yardage and points OR take the ball away, thereby stooping the opposing offense and giving their offense the ball.
Now think about this……… If a team goes for the turnover and overplays a few passing routes (jumping routes) OR really aggressively goes for the football instead of wrapping up a runner or receiver, do you think that might result in the opposing offense getting a few more yards during a game? Don’t you think……. And if that same defense, when overplaying and jumping routes and trying to aggressively strip the ball on every play, forces 5 TURNOVERS, don’t you think that defense maybe did a good job and should get some credit for winning the freaking game!!!!!
I know this can be difficult for some of your feeble little minds, but forced turnovers are crucial to winning big games. Just ask Favre or Manning.

    ——————————————
Firstly, you didn’t drop the ball. They took it away from you. Ripped it from your hands, picked it from the air, and in the end that’s where it ended up. In your end.
Secondly, racking up more yardage than the other team and failing to score enough points to win is not domination. It’s called failure in the red zone. It’s called losing.
Thirdly, the only thing that’s pathetic is the your inability to take your beating like a man and move on. The Saints offense played poorly and they still beat you. If they had played like they did for most of the year they would have put up much more than the thirty burger they did put on you vaunted defesnse. And their defense beat your quarterback like a redheaded stepchild and you were powerless to stop it. Oh wait, some of your guys say they didn’t know he was getting hit. Here’s a tip for you…pay attention.

You Packer fans crack me up. You call Minnesota a classless organization, but it wasnt the Vikings that offered their star QB $20 Million to not play football. Thats pretty classless IMHO. Great players like Favre, have almost always played elsewhere at the ends of their careers. Im sure it stings a little that your hero went to your arch rival…I understand that. Take a little satisfaction that he threw a pic at the end of regulation in the NFCCG. Fact is, without Favre, Minnesota probably wouldve never even been in position to be playing in that game. Let it go. Five or six years from now, when they induct him in the HOF, he’ll be wearing a Packers helmet.

Well said Jimmy. Some say the pak is getting old…lol 41 year old choking QB 38 yr old Williams.

Hydra – I would much rather take a 41 year old QB and 39 year old Williams who brought the Vikings to the NFCCG rather than a 26 year old QB who chokingly toe-tapped the game away against AZ. Nice try loser…hurts doesnt it.

    Does what hurt?

Possibly the only time you will ever see “Pat Williams” and “deflating” in the same story.
