Carroll shows up for USC hearing

Now that Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has escaped the hot kitchen that is the USC athletics department, he has returned for a late-night snack.

Carroll is attending Southern Cal’s hearing before the NCAA Committee on Infractions.  The body governing college sports currently has no jurisdiction over Carroll, given that he no longer works for a member school.  But given that he had the wheel during the “Reggie Bush Gets Paid (Allegedly)” era, it was good for Pete to show up and to presumably claim that he knew nothing about any of it.

John Taylor of CFT has more.

Meanwhile, if the NCAA ultimately finds that Bush lost his eligibility prior to or during the 2005 season, there could still be a day when Vince Young opens up a box and says, “Hey, the face mask fell off this thing.”

This Free Press story of how the Lions plan on operating financially in 2010 was one of the more interesting NFL stories on Thursday, and never got mentioned.
How ’bout throwing the Lions a bone, eh?

Do you really think Reggie Bush will just hand over the Heisman? Really, he will say it was “lost” or something.

Wow, “RogerGoodell’s a tool” is right on.
After clicking that link, I had a solid “lol” moment. Haven’t had that on this site for a while. I miss it.

I understand commentors overlooking the obvious, but as a paid journalist Florio…
you should know that that NCAA has no authority over the Heisman trophy and therefore no matter what sanctions they levy on USC and/or Bush, they cannot take the Heisman trophy.
FYI… The Heisman is the property of the Downtown Athletic Club. A completely independent organization from the NCAA. (While we are at it, it should also be noted that the NCAA cannot take away football championships like they do for basketball – football championships, like the Heisman, are awarded by entities other than the NCAA)
